Hi all, 2,500 miles on my 2020 ranger....all has.been fine.....worked till 4 and went home and stopped to get pizza for the fam....went in got back in truck and turned key to start and nothing. Just lights and said hill assist faliure. I turned it off and then started it right up. Thinking back did I really turn the key all the way? Idk. But it's something to be watched. I haven't even gotten my plates yet. So my question is could this be a fluke...or should I run her in...to get checked? It's an Xlt sports package. I'm not too concerned....but I'm coming from a ridgeline that was loaded with problems and that's why I UPGRADED TO the Ranger. And I consider this an upgrade, I love it so much more. Just don't want any more issues. Any help will be appreciated. I also started her about 20 more times tonight and she's fine.

One of the first things I did was push down in all fuses In the fuse box. Read about another new vehicle that had problems that was due to a fuse not properly seated.

Was it damp outside? Loose connection, water, etc seem to have caused a few people on here to have a similar issue with almost new truck. I think the other guys sensor or wires were in a wheel well??

Hi, how do I get to the fuse box? It's under light controls under wheel correct? How do I get panel off?

Pul straight down firmly using the hand cutout at the top of the panel. It is hinged at the bottom.

Checked all all seemed fine...called dealer today and they said could be a software error. When I shut car off and turned key and restarted that rebooted system. I'll keep and eye out and have them diagnose it anyway when I get my plates in....

in a way I hope you don’t have anymore issues, but then the “what if” would always be present. In a way I hope they find the issue to fix but who wants repairs on a new truck.

Any chance the battery is not 100%. These machines today are energy hog computers and sensors. Auto zone can put a load test on the battery and charging system for free and only takes a minute to test.

Hi Dj,

Yep...the hill assist reboots on every restart. Hope this does not recur. Time will tell...

Good morning. I know it's been three years since this post, but wondering if you see this if you ever had this happen again, and what was the fix? I've had this happen multiple times when I turn the key, everything comes on, but the truck won't start (2020 XL STX) and I get the Hill Assist and Pre Collision unavailable error. It eventually will start. I've had it in twice and dealer can't see anything.
