This is an online forum. You will see EVERY possible problem with 2019-2021 Rangers discussed here both real and imagined. Reading this forum you might be thinking "these Rangers have tons of problems" but that is actually not the case at all. I am 2 months and 2400 miles into ownership and am having 0 issues of ANY kind with my truck. That's not to say I will never have any issues but so far its the most perfect and best vehicle I have EVER owned in my life. I have made some adjustments to my truck which you can look back on my posts and see but these were not necessary, I'm just can't leave anything alone. If you are on the fence about getting a Ranger just go drive one and experience it for yourself.

Agreed. For the most part, people only post about problems. (Not the regular junkies on the forums who just come to chat). They come looking for answers to issues, not to say they aren't having issues. So, when looking at the forums you may think there are a lot of problems, but that doesn't account for the thousands and thousands of people out there without problems who aren't posting about their 'non problem'. :)

I'd more or less gathered this from the overall trend of conversations on here, but having just placed an order for my Ranger, it's nice to see someone make this view explicit. I know there's always a chance that my truck could be a lemon with fuel in the oil, cascading electronic failures, and a transmission that poops the bed, but then, that's possible with pretty much any new truck I might buy. I did a lot of research online before ordering my Ranger, and I didn't see any other midsize trucks with as many positive reviews (not from big car magazines but from actual owners) and solid options for the price. There's no such thing as a perfect truck, I guess, but the Ranger seems to be nearly perfect for me and my needs.

Though I reserve the right to complain if mine shows up and actually sucks. :)

Only problem I've had in 1 year was the cold start / slow start with a shudder which eventually came under a TSB. They flashed the system and it corrected it. Then I eventually got a tune which just out right fixed the sluggish factory shifting anyhow.

I will say be prepared for the stock shifting maps to "gear hunt" on any sort of roads with hills. Also the factory throttle response was severely lacking (typical of fly by wire throttle). Again a tune remedied this.

That is exactually right Hank. And some of the problems are the drivers own doing. You have to cipher the wheat from the chaff. A lot can be gleaned from watching other people. And of course have fun teasing the damper people. ich lack mich weg.

In reality there are more than 100K of the US version on the roads today with more added everyday. Trust me, with the sales numbers the way they are presently and continuing to rise don’t you think the competition is looking for anything possible to stop this parade! Most of the folks on this forum are leagues above the general public in knowledge and modding abilities. Most of us aren’t afraid to pick up a wrench or air tool and go at it. That’s not the norm by any standards. So when you see something here that is negative it just one opinion out of a 100 thousand!

A lot of problems I read and or/hear about are related to people using their truck outside the margins of what its intended purpose is.
This truck is very rewarding if you let it warm up a tad before ripping ass down the road. If you are light on the throttle, the gearbox will happily comply to the point that shifts are imperceptible.
6 weeks and 1500 miles and the truck is perfect!

Your post is spot on - I just passed two years of ownership and in that time the only issue I had was a slightly leaky mirror turn signal light which was replaced under warranty. I only noticed it because the turn signal had drops of moisture in it. It didn't affect how it worked.

It has been an excellent truck for me and I still love driving it. I also did a lot of research on vehicles and have been VERY happy with my choice.

I have owned a slew of different vehicles: American (GM, Ford, Dodge), Japanese and European which has given me a flavor for what's out there. This is my 4th Truck. I am a researcher by nature and did so much of it before buying this Ranger that I lost track of my findings. Have had a few minor issues but everything has been solved satisfactory. By virtue of new safety features and advanced electronics it is understandable that problems will increase. This truck is amazing to drive and always a fun adventure even just running out to the supermarket!

Quality is one of my top priorities in choosing a vehicle. According to my personal experience with the Ranger, I agree with the following report:

JD Power and Associates rated the 2020 Ranger #2 out of 10 Trucks: 2020 Ford Ranger – J.D. Power Award Winner in Initial Quality! (This rating should probably be applicable to the 2019's thru the 2021's since they are branded alike*). 1st place went to: 1. 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty – Highest Pickup Truck in Quality According to Consumers! *my remark
Top-Rated 2020 Trucks in Quality According to Consumers | J.D. Power

Here is a post that I did just the other day pertaining to my experience with the build quality of my Ranger:

Well I definitely got a clunker first of all I need a technician knows what he’s doing and understands the TSB it’s stated on the left rear of the Ranger to take the quarter inch plate out already to tensioner leaf which they did not I try to get it out and it will not budge it’s like welded into there for some reason so I’m thinking that’s why they didn’t replace or take it out to put the wedge gym in there which is a big issue with my truck at the moment not to mention the airflow on the passenger side door I cannot get it to quiet down I don’t know what the deal is over there

Either it has a bad body design there or door seals need to be fatter maybe I’ve tried sticking some Thermo king seal door in there which it will come back out but no prevail I still have airflow and I am deaf in one ear and I can hear it plain as day anybody got any suggestions I really don’t want to take the truck back to the dealer cause I might drive to the great Bear Glasspro to show room for the way they did me and my wife

Sorry about your experience...I know these issues can be very disappointing.
