Here is a map of that area. It's pretty fun to run around there.

Appreciate both of your help. I'll bookmark buena Vista for down the road. Hopefully I can convince the wife I need a lift to reach some cooler camping spots.

A lift will definitely help for sure. Just having a locker helps a lot by itself.

Four mile area is great for camping and Buena Vista is a cool little town, especially in summer.

Hi everyone! Just picked up my truck on Friday so I get to leave the tacoma forums and join these. Coming from a rwd taco so I didnt get to really explore anywhere in the mountains. Any good trails to take a stock fx4? Something harder than a fire trail but not too hard where ill get stuck if I go alone.

Edit: I live in aurora so something close to denver preferably. The springs is probably the furthest id drive for now although I want to go to Lake San Cristobal eventually
From the springs there is Gold Camp Road and Rampart Road. Both are easy dirt roads with fun side shoots for the daring, did them all in my stock fx4 the weekend after I bought it. Go go. Very capable truck in stock form.

Anyone have experience with Dakota Hill SE trail? Looking at alltrails seems like it typically doesn't open back up until June/July. Is that the usual time most stuff opens back up? Only been here a couple years and my first time actually looking for offroad trails

Not sure about Dakota Hill but the state of Colorado operates a fairly comprehensive map of all types of trails. The ones that officially close due to snow are usually marked with the closure dates.

Anyone have a set of factory sport magnetic wheels they want to offload? Looking for a spare set of wheels for summer.

Anyone planning on driving their Rangers in the deep snow this weekend?

I had to test fit my chains yesterday to make sure they fit on my new tires. Was tight but they fit.

No real plans on my end. Dont have chaims either. With the terrain management you would be suprised on how well the rangers do in the snow

Yea totally agree on them handling quite well in snow. But there is a limit to what software can do and these chains are my way of hedging in case I need more. Notification this morning said expect 2-4 feet where I am ?.

What part of Colorado do you live in? My guess is you're up in the mountains somewhere
