If you go with a .25" or .5" spacer is the thread loss on the studs a concern? Especially off roading?

For a fastener to properly fasten it needs to grab as many threads deep as its diameter.
Hi Blmpkn,

The Ford Rule is three exposed threads.

Do you know what our stud size is? This doesn't help me much. Just more tables to confuse me even more...if that's possible.☹

I tried 1/4” spacer and the tire shop said no go. Lug nuts only could get 2 threads so they are not on there.

As Phil just said. 3 full threads is minimum. Additional threads helps keep stretching to a minimum. Our threads are 12mm x 1.5mm. So, 1.5X3 is 4.5mm or about 3/16 of an inch. Think you might want a little more than that! To be safe 1/2 to 5/8 length would be good torqued to to spec.

So you think the guys throwing in less than 1" spacers are changing the studs? Must be.

Not sure. I have seen a few people say they are running 1/4” spacers on their trucks but I did not feel comfortable with it only grabbing 2 threads and neither did the shop.

I agree 2 threads is NOT good enough especially off roading!
FFS everytime I think I got it figured out another parameter shows up and I gotta start again.

Good idea, I prefer being safe, rather than looking cool broken down on the side of the road with a missing wheel.
