Mr truck is 2wd , that’s why I launch with the locker, the locker shuts off at 20 mph, just enough to limit the spin.

I have the E locker an 4x4. I wasn't sure if ford limited top speed in 4 wheel drive or not. an I wasn't sure I want to switch it off on the fly at higher speeds. I don't plan on beating on this truck all the time, maybe 15 or 20 launches a year like that.

I went to a test an tune in my ol '97 cobra an there wasn't hardly anyone there. I probably did 25 passes. I had to make myself stop because I had to drive the car home an needed it to get me there. Seems like T&T is either empty or so packed you only get 2 or 3 runs in during the 6 hours or so I'm there

Every pass i made on the 1/8 was traction off, 4 high, locker on in sport. It was still locked at the end of the run. I know because when turning off you could hear it was still locked.

Yes he locker will come back on when it comes back to 20-25 mph. (Watch the locker light on the dashboard)

I have my doubts on the e-locker actually disengaging while under full load during say a 1/4 mile run. Light going off, yes and system attempting to disengage, but can the actuation mechanism overcome the gear tooth on gear tooth force?
Can the drag racer feel the locker release?

HI Doug,

I had the same question....if you do not back off...likely will not release, but do not know. I do know that if Doc uses it...he will not back off and thus we might never know... Same with road racing...Do not back off until you have autographed your underwear!

Best,

I know you are talking about the locker... but when switching from 4H to 2H it will not disengage until there is no load on the gearing. If your going up an incline and go from 4h to 2h, the light won't go off until you crest the hill. Or you can let off the gas for it to disengage. And the light does not go off until it does disengage. You can feel it disengage, at which point the light goes off.

The Locker engagement and release are not noticeable under load , the rest, you may have a good Point !

My brother (dealer tech for 30+ years) warned me about the e locker. Had to rebuild some guy's rearend because he engaged it while the wheels were spinning or something. I'll ask him about the drag racing angle.
