  1. Ranger vs Gladiator

The Gladiator is very appealing and I was close to buying one when I got the Ranger. Price wise they're more in F150 territory, or at least between Ranger and F150. That's what I found at the dealer lots. I decided the Gladiator was a vehicle I'd admire if some other guy owned it. I'm not going...
  2. Poor Factory Quality Control

Guys, are you really doing DIY panel adjustments on your new trucks? Where do you find the time? I've got misalligned doors on the driver's side, weather stripping that looks every day more like spaghetti thrown against a wall, and the hood/fender gap is uneven side to side. The recline handle...
  3. Thinking about purchasing a Ranger

" So much for loaded questions.... " Naw, it was an honest question, but I can see how it might look otherwise.
  4. Thinking about purchasing a Ranger

Sure, which is why I'm not running to upgrade mine. I don't plan on putting extreme stresses on the truck and I haven't heard of Ranger monoleaf failures. But I would point out that there are plenty of examples of systems used in vehicles that were rigorously tested by engineers yet still failed...
  5. Thinking about purchasing a Ranger

I'd say that's a valid concern. While I haven't done serious off roading in mine (or any modern vehicle), what I learned years ago with GM (on a clear day you can find a way to save $2 a car) vehicles was that mono leafs should be looked at with suspicion. One leaf holding the back end up -- yea...
  6. Thinking about purchasing a Ranger

They really want to work the stock shocks hard and give us a bouncy ride so we'll complain about it. Then someone gets to say, "first world problems" or something. Seriously, other than lighter weight and lower cost where's the benefit? Just look at aftermarket kits aimed at ride, handling or...
  7. 2021 Ford Ranger factory paint flaw

I got lucky with the bed alignment and (for the most part) the hood and fenders. I think; I'm not the most eagle-eyed with these things. But it is amazing how such basic things go awry in a truck that's been around for 10 years being built at multiple sites.
  8. Thinking about purchasing a Ranger

My brother is a dealer tech and reports no issues with the Ranger. The drivetrain has been "tested" by numerous Mustang owners prior to it going in the Ranger. I got an XL and honestly it's more posh than I would have expected. I keep discovering new features. Remote power mirrors, huh? And that...
  9. Thoughts after owning 6 months and 6,000 miles

3 months in. I really like the tautness of the drive. Mileage has gotten a lot better since new, except when I select S, then it sucks the gas. Really like the interior, but I've covered everything up because of the dog. Really like the molded dash cover I just got. Only had it on unpaved mud...
  10. 2021 Ford Ranger factory paint flaw

" The bottom of the driver door sticks out a little bit further than the door next to it which looks a bit funky. At the end of the day it's close enough and I'll just piss myself off if I spend time worrying about it. " I have that, but only on the driver's side. Why did hungover guy have to...
  11. 2020 Ranger Inventory

Wait, they don't come from Ford with a $900 pinstripe?
  12. Am I delusional

" My Passat, however, with its two-zone climate control is nothing but trouble - maybe it’s having a tough time finding that magic, invisible wall that separates the driver side climate zone from the passenger side climate zone. " It always strikes me as similar to the old smoking/non smoking...
  13. Am I delusional

I have the dirtbag model, so no auto. I find that the defrost is the strongest, and it doesn't really blow at the floor too hard. Even the vent blast isn't as robust as I would expect. So, no, I don't think you're delusional. It's a strange word to use though. Crappy little quirks in a Ford? The...
  14. Key fob cover to protect panic button

I'm assuming I need a scan tool for this? Thanks for the tip; that damned panic button is driving me crazy.
  15. 2020 Ranger Inventory

I got mine in early January. Three of the 2020s that were at the dealer then are still there. They only have one 2021. Still no clear-out deals; basically the same offers as before. What interests me more are the unsold Escapes still there on the lot. They were pretty heavily discounted, and...
  16. Recommended snow chains or cables?

I've used both on cars and trucks in the CA mountains and would highly recommend chains. Had them on my (2WD) pickup and never had any problems in the snow. The cables would sometimes break, and when mine did I went to the chains.
  17. Ranger has fresh competition...

The old Frontier was around so long it's become a classic. I looked at one before I bought the Ranger. It reminded me of cold beer, leggy women and me still with a head of hair.
  18. Tire size for 16” wheels 3” level? Help!

I have an XL, which came stock with the 16" wheels. I got a set of OEM 18" take-offs, with stock tires (both are the Bridgestones). I was quite surprised to see the overall diameter and width are nearly the same. The 18s are within 1/2" in diameter and (most surprisingly), maybe about 1/2"...
  19. Ranger has fresh competition...

From the front it looks like an angry kitchen appliance. The Nissan emblem looks strange, and tacked on. I'm sure it's a nice truck substantively, tho.
  20. Steering Reminder

Every day I'm more thankful I got an XL. I don't have this crap, right?
