Guys, I have had the Ford Performance Power Pack Kit sitting on a shelf in my home for weeks now but finally got it flashed on Friday. Took the Ranger out for spin in the hills around my house this morning. I was really, really pleased with the truck's performance! I only used Drive mode and found the power and shifting to be much better than stock, even better than stock Sport mode. The transmission no longer pauses like it is trying to decide what to do when accelerating up hills, as it did before. Maybe I will try Sport next time out....

Hey, Brian, thanks, for comparison's sake, I plan to try it today along the same hilly and winding roads I took yesterday. (Prior to the tune, I basically drove in Sport all the time....)

Hello, again. Just got back from my morning ride (and hike). Yeah, the tuned Sport mode rocks! No hesitation in shifting at all and plenty of down-low torque! Fun!

I find myself using both modes when I drive. I live close to town where there is a lot of traffic and the average speed limits are 25/35mph with lots of stop lights. So you really just zip from one light to the next. So to conserve on gas I typically drive in "D" and shift into sport when I need it. I kind of like shifting back and forth too because it kind of feels like the old days of driving stick.

Yeah, prior to the tune, I had fallen into a pattern of using Drive for city driving and Sport for mountain roads, freeways, etc. basically any place where you need to be able to accelerate quickly with no hesitation. With the tune, I will have to rethink all this, probably will keep this pattern but overall with less use of Sport (now that Drive has become so much "sportier"). Like you, I miss driving a stick, which gives you more of a sense of being involved in the ride, but hardly anybody makes them anymore, and I guess there is no going back.

91 octane. The highest octane I can get at the pump.

Went and read the thread, Forgive the dumb question.

I'd love to see 400/400 out of this thing, but, woudn't last that long in stock form. Wonder if there are built 2.3's out there capable. Maybe buy a used engine and built it up. they are so plentiful and cheap!

Mine finally came. I was confused by the instructions but in the process of summarizing the steps to format some questions to ask here I understood it. I got mine from the dealer so I could use my "points" and will take the programmed tool and my truck in and essentially have them do the last step(s) so as to gain the warranty. I negotiated a reasonable labor charge and am looking forward to getting it "installed" next week. I plan to use the K/N for now but will add the Roush CAI in a couple months. The instructions seem to warn about having a fully charged battery as if the process took so long it could cause problems. It made me wonder....wife's Honda will only stay in accessory mode so long and then it automatically shuts off. Is this something to worry about as the instructions warn "IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO CONNECT VEHICLE TO A BATTERY CHARGER/TENDER TO ENSURE ADEQUATE BATTERY VOLTAGE DURING CALIBRATION PROCESS"
