Haven't hit one on my Ranger yet, but have taken out MANY in my Hyundai Accent. They seem to get impaled in my grille. I hate it too, because it's usually a beautiful cardinal.:crying:

We hit a buzzard once in our Escort. All I can tell you is went you hit a full grown buzzard at 70 mph, everyone in the car wakes up. This thing competely busted the windshield...couldnt see anything and the hole where His head came through was the worst part. Had to limp down the interstate till I could find a place to get off and get to a dealer to get it replaced.

no birds but I have been racking up the body count on the small rabbits in my neighborhood.
I think I am over 10 at this point, I don't swerve to hit or miss them I just drive.
They commit suicide under my tires or I hear them bounce off the skid plates, and watch the barrel roll in my rear view.
They cover some distance when rolling all fluffy tails and flailing ears.

I was with a buddy in his Jeep Cherokee. It was back in the day. All the windows were down. We had a crow fly in the back window and absolutely went crazy trying to get back out! We just about ran off the road before we could get stopped and get the doors open. He flew out the door and was gone.
In 50 years of driving I have hit probably 10 or 12 birds. Only one with the Ranger but have only had it three months.

Not in the Ranger, but within a few weeks of getting my old Trac I was driving and attacked by two birds within a mile (grille wipeouts) and another about a week later. ++15 years ago--since, nope. But there have been a few this summer that came close....

Only have hit two; once about 5 years ago in my Durango, two bluebirds crossed the highway in front of me. One made it across and the other travelled with me in my grille for about two hours.

The other was a couple of weeks ago in the Ranger; flock of birds were taking off from a tree next to the road, only had one bounce off my windshield right smack dab in front of me.

I've hit three birds with my Ranger since I bought it a year ago. The last one was this past Sunday. It must have something to do with the vehicle's quietness.
