Been waiting since October for my Ranger to get pulled in the Order Bank. Per the GM at my dealer this morning the keypad is on constraint and my Ranger will not be scheduled until the constraint is removed. He sent me a screenshot showing the constraint.

So I told him to remove the keypad option. He said the scheduler told him they should get my order processed this week and a VIN # assigned by removing the keypad. I'll worry about a wireless keypad (Ford does make those) that would work on the Ranger once I get the truck. Just agonizing having waited this long and seeing others actually buying Rangers and mine not even scheduled. Hopefully that changes this week! :like:

I ordered the keypad and my truck was scheduled months ago.

I guess they ran out. SMH. I have heard some parts aren't coming in at the rate they need and the keypads are probably one of them.

My build date was delayed by 2 weeks, so that could explain your issues with the keypad too.

I've said in a couple other threads that Ford told my dealer back in late October that having a key pad was going to push back delivery date (Ford wouldn't say how long). They didn't act like a case that they ran out. Don't think they have ever installed any so far. And I'll repeat again, the accessory/option manual shows keypad available 2Q 2019 which to me means April 2019. Hope that's wrong because that would mean I ordered in September and would't get the vehicle for almost 7 months. I'm starting to think it will be April. I've never ordered a new vehicle before much less one that is a new production but does anybody have any idea why a $95 option would put that kind of delay on an order?

It can be bought as a genuine Ford accessory and installed in minutes
At least one version of it can.

If I had to guess on this specific issue, I would think perhaps the body shop not being ready. We already know that it's a very limited complexity program, and presumably the keypad requires the door to have a hole cut in it that a vehicle without the keypad does not. Being that it's an optional operation, it might not have been designed for the same J1 timing as a way to reduce overall cost.

I would not make assumptions on dealer part availability impacting production. If I am Ford I would want all my stock to be pointed at new builds, not to parts the dealer will install after the fact. So as a Ford accessory available in 2Q19 per the catalog, to me that just means they don't expect a surplus until then.

I have seen several pre-production Rangers with the keypads. The Hot Pepper Red one reviewed by Lyn Woodward on the Kelly Blue Book video is exactly how mine was originally ordered and it had the keypad. I just don't want to wait anymore. Second quarter 2019 is too long. Will figure out a solution down the road. The wireless keypad in the thread above might not work with the Ranger if you get one with remote start. I read that on a Ford page researching the part # that it would not work on vehicles with remote start.

My dealer called me this morning specifically to answer my question to him last week about the keypad delaying production. He said that his order clerk inquired with her contact at Ford. No one is aware of any such delay being caused by the keypad. He checked the order (DORA?) on my vehicle and confirmed that the keypad will be factory installed. He said the order would have indicated dealer installed if that was the case. He also reconfirmed batch scheduling of the retail orders on 1/21 and said I'd have a VIN on Thursday, 1/24.

my dealer confirmed that there is / was an issue that has been fixed and would possibly push dates back a week. Im in to deep to change the option so I am just hoping for the best.

My window sticker was issued today, S-Cab, with keypad, was due for build start 1-15, shows in production on ford tracker, and still shows delivery in 9 days.

Mine was scheduled to be built the week of the 14th and it's being built as of 1/17 with keypad.
