Finished setting the truck up for towing four down. Installed the Roadmaster baseplates, and unfortunately had to remove factory tow bars. Wasn’t crazy about how the base plates looked but couldn’t be helped. Neighbor and I built some shackle plates to hide the base plates. I think they look better. Painted them with Raptor Liner.

Used some 303 to clean up my side steps. They look better than when I unboxed them!

Looks Good! The 303 Aerospace protectant is the best stuff for uv protection and restoring your graying black plastic. I do my dash and tonneau cover at least once a month with it because the suns so brutal here.

First oil change. Did it very early because several folks here scared me into it.?
The oil looked very good with no visible debris or unusual odor. Also installed a drain valve.
which drain valve did you go with?

Yeah out here in Las Vegas it's pretty harsh. And I keep my truck in the garage.

Looks good. How hard was the job? What brand baseplate did you go with?

Spent some time laying in 3M clear film in the door sills.

Many thanks to Kimball (@quangdog ) and his DIY video. It saved me a lot of hassle and made installation as easy as possible (far easier than the prescribed 3M method).

I also discovered a previously unknown skill: I'm particularly good at introducing air bubbles where none need exist. If anyone needs air bubbles to unnecessarily lengthen the time you spend in the garage, give me a shout. I've got tips.

Next - I'm likely to put a set of Bushwacker sill guards on top in time; Michigan loves it's salt and rocks. Two is one, one is none?...

Took it on a road trip. We had to cancel our spring trip to Utah due to Covid which is now rescheduled for the fall. ?Decided to get away up north to Flagstaff for a few days and get out of this heat. It's been 110 lately and last weekend was 116 so this cool 85 degree air feels great right now. Nights are going to be in the mid 50's so yes,I'll be freezing! lol One of the nice things about living here is you're only 2 - 2 1/2 hours away (depending on how you drive ?) from the high country. Goodyear is at 1000' elevation and Flagstaff is at 7000'.

Even with the rise in elevation I still managed to average 18.5 mpg driving 80-85 mph all the way here. There are some long steep grades near Crown King and Bumble Bee and I never felt the tranny lag or hunt for gears like my Tacoma use to on the same trip. Actually it never downshifted lower than 7th gear and the rpms were just under 3000. This truck impresses me every time I drive it! Was coming up on someone in the left lane and of course they weren't moving over so I just nailed it and in an instant I was in the right lane and by him and he was a blip in my rear view in no time. It still amazes me that there's only a 4 cyl in this truck!
I'll be moving back home to Flag after 5 long years in California and im looking forward to having the power to make it back up the hill stress-free after trips to the valley. Before moving i had an old yota that was great offroad, but climbing I-17 with a 22R turning 32's was no fun. Also looking forward to seeing how the Ranger performs an all the old Northern AZ trails i used to exlpore, city life made me realize how much i took that for granted when i was younger...

Did you have stock non fx4 suspension? If so, what difference do you notice?. I have an xl with a fx4 suspension waiting in the garage....
Had the stock non-FX4 suspension before, yes.

FX4 feels a bit firmer, but not much on the road. I will find out how much different it is when the boys and I go wheeling this weekend.

It’s a Roadmaster baseplate. Three hours for the install.
Thank you that’s what others have said as well as far as time required to install. What brand of tow bar are you using?

How did you mount the light bar?
You have to take off the front bottom part of the bumper. It's 4 pins and 5 screws but there are some tabs that are hard to get off. I made my own brackets and attached them to the current bumper bolts already there. I have the bracket dimensions you can probably find something that works at Lowes or Home Depot. There is someone who sells the brackets on this site but I figured I can make them for cheaper. Getting the wiring thought to your cabin is difficult. I see a lot of people going the wireless route.
