Lane Keep assist

When lane keep assist is set to alert only the steering wheel "rumbles" to let you know you are no longer in the lane. I noticed when using lane keep assist with alert and aid turned on, the steering wheel no longer "rumbles" when I veer off, even if I force the truck to continue to go in that direction. I also noticed that the colors go from green to yellow on the dash, but never turn red when using alert and aid. Even if I cross over to the other lane. Is this normal?

I didn't even know the steering wheel is supposed to rumble if i veer out of the lane. My old car did that but i haven't noticed it on my 2020 XLT 2WD. Do all the models have this feature?

Set to assist and alert when I wander the lane color goes to yellow and it corrects back the other way. I have the correction on the lowest setting. It's an odd feeling, almost like a skid.

I don't use it, I figure since I've been driving for 47yrs without it and I'm still alive its more of a novelty than assistant

I doubt it, the lane keep is more of a nudge and definitely not a jerk. Try it out on the highway in a controlled situation so you get used to it.

On top of alert and aid settings, you can also set how aggressive you want it to react. Maybe lowering the settings may help.

I doubt it, the lane keep is more of a nudge and definitely not a jerk. Try it out on the highway in a controlled situation so you get used to it.

I've had it "jerk" before. And I know a handful of others on here have as well. Mine usually gets confused by weird line patterns on the road and especially when a turn lane breaks off in one direction or another. It tends to want to follow that line and thus veers that way. I always had my hands on the wheel so it wasn't a big deal, but it could've been an issue if I wasn't paying attention.

Right now I just have it on alert mode at the highest setting, and toggle it on and off with the button at the end of the signal stalk in the city or especially construction areas. I can definitely see how aid mode would be helpful, especially for long distance freeway/highway driving. I just usually either forget or don't want to take the time to re-engage aid mode, so alert mode does just fine for me.

My situation was a hard jerk where the people behind me probably were concerned.

Also thanks for the info regarding the wiper stick button to disengage these settings. Apparently I still have a lot to learn about this truck.

I keep mine on the more aggressive setting. I only use it when I need to take my eyes off the road for a short moment to pull something out of the deep cavern / center console storage or glove box.

I suggest trying out all the settings when you have time driving down the road. You will get a much better idea of how it works and what it does.

I do too. I played around with all the settings. My question is why doesnt the steering wheel rumble when using the alert and aid?

I'm guessing that if the system has to make a quick correction to stay in lane, then that alone should be enough to alert you?

I purchased my Ranger out of state and drove from Colorado back to California with it. I didn't even realize that lane assist was on until I was getting the occasional road rumble through the steering wheel while driving through some sharp twisties in the Rockies. I finally figured out what it was as I occasionally put a tire on the solid white line marking the shoulder of the road. That is what prompted me to check it out more thoroughly when I was driving down the interstate.
