Hey. Paul from North of Chicago. Joined 1-1-19. Have had 3 Sport Tracs and one Ranger. Currently driving an 07 Sport Trac and was waiting for the new Ranger roll out. So far disappointed on some things. Like paying extra for the Hot pepper red... I'm a moon roof guy, power slider guy, (Sport Trac spoiled me) and a larger engine than a 2.3l guy. Some of us tow things... What is the towing capacity on the new Ranger BTW? And why do I have to buy a gazillion options if I want the 10 speaker stereo?? Looking forward to reading everyone's posts. Though I may be looking closer into the Colorado now....

The Ranger is class leading at 7,500 lbs towing capacity across all versions. Also the 2.3L Ecoboost engine has 270 HP & 310 TQ, and it is the fastest truck in the midsize class.

I would suggest driving a Tacoma V6 before calling the 2.3L inadequate.

I found the taco seats and seating position very uncomfortable. I didn't like how you sit more low with legs more go kart style versus a normal seated position. The taco community is a bit odd too.
As far as the Colorado goes. I should of test drove, and looking back regret not doing so. I like the Z71 package, and the step bumper in the back. GMC All Terrian had my eye for a while. I worried about reliability, and my previous car was a Ford and being more of a Ford guy, we naturally hate GMs by default
Frontier price was good and after test driving, it won me over. Leather seats are super comfy, seating position is great and at the time I liked the "old schoolness" of it.
Now i'm rather bored with the low tech and how unrefined it is. Wind noise at highway speeds is high, and drives me nuts.

The Ranger has crazy cool technology like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, auto braking & front/rear parking sensors.

It also has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 4G WiFi modem, power/heated seats, 4 USB plugs & a 110v household plug.

Hey everyone, I'm Jeremy from CA. I've only owned cars up to this point in my life, but I've been looking at getting a truck for a while now since getting a house and a big dog. I had been looking at F-150s but just wasn't been able to justify the size/cost until the new Ranger was announced. This site has been extremely helpful in deciding on a Ranger, I'm planning on picking one up at some point this year. The hardest part will be waiting, but I still need to decide on a few things and want to do some test drives first, but after reading the early reviews am sold on getting one.

It's more than I need, plus it'd be a little tight in the parking garages downtown where I work. My dad has a 2015 F-150 FX4 and it's a gorgeous truck, but bigger than anything I'd need.

7500 lbs. I wouldn't have guessed. I can live with that. Comparable to my 4.6l v-8 Trac. Thanks for the info. Now if I can just get a factory moon roof....

Thanks for that. Also, is it only a 4 pin connector or do you get a 7 with the trailer tow package? I thought I read somewhere stock was a 4...

Welcome! I think you’ll be shocked how much progress Ford made in 26 years, the new Ranger is light years better than the old generations.

Hi, I'm an old Ford guy (67YO) I have really enjoyed reading all the great information and the fact that everyone seems so cordial here.
I just ordered a Saber STX with a tow package.
Being a bit old school I am stricken by the fact that everyone here seems to judge the value in the new Ranger in the trim levels and all the nice apps that come as you move up the line.
It also seems everyone is buying 4WD.

What impressed me at first blush was the value at the entry level. Drive train and chassis components are the same from a base XL all the way to the Lariat. It used to be that more power and better brakes and chassis stuff were costly additions to base price, now the fastest and best handling Ranger will be the CHEAPEST! WOW!
I have loved to see all the nice pictures and the descriptions of what accessories there are, and what they do.
I would like to know more about the lower end stuff as well... like what the simpler "Sync" can do in the Ranger or more dash and rear seat pictures of the XL and the STX supercab.
Also, does anyone know anything about the "in dash" Ford accessory brake controller
and if it does anything more than a Prodigy II?

Hello everyone. New to the forum and I am enjoying all the observations and opinions. I am a person who during the week entertains clients and on weekends fly fish, kayak, ski and hike depending on time of the year. An SUV has been okay for 20 years but I need a change. I live in Seattle where parking is tight but also have a home in Bellingham, WA. I am hoping the Ranger is my answer. I really appreciate all the insights!

I am also a city dweller, and a midsize truck is about as big as I want to get in SF. The good news is that you can still fit in downtown garages and in tight alleys in the new Ranger.
