I installed wiring for a ham radio antenna under the left rear door sill, removing the plastic cover plate. When reinstalling the plate I broke off one of the tabs that secures it in place. I want to glue the tab back on but don't know what kind of glue works with the plastic in the Ranger.

I tried PVC cement and it didn't work. Any suggestions? Glue is a lot cheaper than the replacement part.

I usually go with the JB Weld that is specific to the materials trying to be adhered. They've got a plethora of different adhesives and definitely some that are plastic specific. I got one specific to bonding plastic to fiberglass for instance that I used on my topper. Worked really well and definitely strong to hold an interior panel on.

JB plastic weld is good stuff. I used it when I retrofitted the headlights on my F150. Worked great and It’s strong bond. But what BHunted mentioned would prob work great too.

Actually if you look around, you can find cheaper kits for less than $40

Won't the remaining clips and gravity hold it in place for you? Nobody will know theres a clip missing. Don't tell anyone but I broke a clip too installing my TBC and it looks completely normal to the untrained eye (everyone that can't see thru plastic)... Mine isn't flopping around or floating around the cabin with the missing clip :p

Jon , try a company called Lord Fusor. They make all kinds adhesives for everything, even difficult to do plastics they have an adhesion promoter that allows their glue to adhere to anything. F-150's body panels are glued together with it . Bret

I have used both gorilla clear and the original glue to fix plastic parts on my f-150. just remember the original glue will expand a little.

Hi Jon,

This is what I use when something like you experienced with plastic... One of my engineers has a saying. "There only two kinds of plastic in this world. Broken and About to be Broken.

Wish I knew about that stuff when the tabs broke off the factory grill prior to my raptor grill. Some were already missing and broke so just hung it on wall with some lights behind it. ?

Hi John,

I stumbled on this Devcon product and was simply amazed at its effectiveness.

Is the part stamped on the underside with a recycle code that you could look up? Polyethylene is very difficult to bond. Look for glue especially for that.
