Anyone know the difference between an XLT radio with the 6 speaker set-up, and the B&O radio found on the Lariat. The XLT radio/speakers just don’t cut it, and I’m not sure if I need to replace the radio which seems to be almost impossible with all it does for the truck. Or if I can just add better speakers. I’d like something that fits in the spot of the factory sub as well, rooms already tight back there.

Try the link I posted for the amp harness upgrade. The factory unit can be replaced in these trucks, but as of now that's a hassle. Not to mention the factory head unit is pretty decent. Upgrade speakers with comps and amp - be done with it.

I’m having several issues with the sensitivity of my driving assist systems. I recently found out the lane keeping system is not nearly as good as say the F-150’s, and I specifically told the salesman I was hoping for the same performance in the ranger that my Honda CRV had which was a nightmare of a car as I posted. I also have several misses of cars right in my path on the cross traffic alert, and parking assist system seems to work only well enough to let me know I’m going to hit something which Has happened and was bought to avoid these incidents from Happening with these added features. I did notice the lane assist appears to work better if I turn off the adaptive cruise. I also noticed the head unit is very laggy and the trucks sensor appears on the head unit to show me how close I am supposed to be to a obstacle. I guess the short on this is it looks like ford skimped on the processor for the head and I’d like to know if a F-150’s head would work in its place or I’d lose some of the parking features. Sorry if I’m repeating myself but I had a very bad visit with the service department today and am still upset about it.

Don't think a direct swap will work. The processor should be the same as the current generation F-150. (I believe) it's mostly just firmware issues at this point.

Excuse my ignorance but what are "comps"?

I’ve only had the experience with my Ranger XLT but the radio is very slow to react especially in changing screens and I know the F-150s lane keeping works so much better than mine. I really would like an answer as to why my radio takes 2 to 3 button presses to change screens and why there’s such a big difference in the lane keeping between the 2 trucks, if the 2 head units are supposed se d to be basically the same. So far in my experience with the Ranger XLT it seems they used the name and designed the truck as cheap as they could. As in taking the engine cover off and a few other cosmetic items I’ve noticed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just went and used a bunch of off the shelf parts they put into it, and they may not be working together as they should. I do know it’s night and day on the lane keeping systems between the 2 as well as my cross traffic missing cars Behind my truck right next to me, but picks up an 18 wheeler across the street.

<Sigh> this may be a slight compromise for über audiophiles, but my tired old ears and goal of keeping things as near stock appearing as I can might see value. The EQ feature is highlighted there and may be worth it if amplifying and upgrading speakers. You could push the bass response with some component sets and shift the front stage mid/highs and that could make a difference.

'If it's too loud, you're too old' takes on a new meaning these days.
