I’ve seen this type of way of closing doors without touching the outside but it was custom. I just noticed this and I’m not sure if this is common on vehicles but I thought this is cool.

I've never noticed that before. Not sure I could get use to closing my door like that but it's a cool feature.

The 3 indents to the right of the weather strip. You can use your 3 fingers to push the door shut in those notches.

Fingers on the three impressions to swipe door closed. Just use outside handle to close. Plastic.
Cool find however. But if designed I am surprised.

On my super cab there are three indentations a bit higher on the passenger door only and they are very shallow.
I can't imagine they would have been designed to help close the door.
will post a picture tomorrow.

I have a feeling those indentations are there to give the crush structure inside the door a flat surface to weld to. I'll have the inside door panels off soon to get at the speakers, maybe a quick peek over there with my snake scope to see what's going on. I'd bet any money there's internal structure welded there.

I had come across this that is sold as a way of closing the door without touching the exterior. Didn't interest me but apparently there is a market for them. I saw this at Cravenspeed when I was getting a shorty antenna. Also on Amazon.

Those are actually pretty cool, especially the alien green glow in the dark one. lol I don't think I'd use it on my Ranger but I would be tempted to try it if I still had my Vette.
