My two choices were the Ranger or the Ridgeline. It's plenty of truck for me. I have access to full size behemoth truck, so smaller is better for day to day use for me. The Ridgeline is a very nice vehicle, I just couldn't justify the price difference as tech gadgets and luxury are not a priority for me. If the Ranger had failed to materialize, then a Ridgeline would definitely be in the driveway

I traded in my 2008 Ridgeline in for my Ranger lol. I always liked the RL but needed some more towing capacity. I probably will miss the AWD and excellent traction control the next time it snows.

I love Honda cars but personally don't care for the Ridgeline. I know they ride nice and all but I want a truck to ride like a truck and I don't care for the unibody. I need 4wd for the places we go shooting and still enjoy off roading several times a year. Sounds like it would be a good truck for you and your needs but damn that's a slap in the face for your trade in! I think you will see better deals towards the end of summer. It's usually the best time to but when they're trying to get rid of this years models but I think they'll have much more inventory this year because of the virus.

My girlfriends lease on her Civic is up the end of August and she's hoping to get a really good deal on another one. She got a good deal 3 years ago @ $140.00/month for a brand new Civic with only $1,000 down. I'm thinking they'll be more desperate this year.
LOL DAve While I love the Ranger it is not as good a fit as the Ridgeline. The biggest negative I have regarding the Honda that its a boring truck ( and yes I call it a truck) The practical options make it a good fit. But $27K for my Ranger LOL Not gonna happen.

Still, I am looking forward to the redesign. In three years the Honda, Ranger, and Tacoma . Another thing I considered was the resale on the ridgelines is the same as Ranger 67% residual after three years... If I was going to buy one of those trucks I would buy one with 25,000 miles on it let someone else take the hit had my ranger since march and it's got four thousand miles

We have a Ridgeline with a "topper".... my Wife's Pilot! ?
Exactly. I call it a trv Truck SUV. The draw for me with the ridgeline is a fact that it is an suv the handy bed flat rear floor and a whole lot of room in the second row. I don't carry much in my bed so taking stuff out to change a tire wouldn't be something i would consider as a deal-breaker. I thought the ranger was pretty good on the road the ridgeline is just smooth. Who knows I was bored yesterday so I decided to take a shot. Unlike the Tacoma forum I respect all trucks unibody or body-on-frame. If it has a truck bed then it's a truck. Well that is just semantics. Which means nothing. Aesthetically I think it's the same as a ranger they both are boring to look at.

It's not just having to empty the bed to get to the tire, Tom. It's the use of a donut for a vehicle that is "designed" to carry a large payload and/or a trailer. The use of anything other than a full-size tire is gross negligence as it's extraordinarily unsafe.

The Ridgeline makes a ton of sense very practical, but damn I just couldn't even consider it because of how it looks. Honestly if I'm gonna go practical i'd buy a minivan. I have a 2006 F150 with an 8 ft bed if I need to haul anything. My wifes old minivan would have hauled more in the back than my Crew Cab Ranger or Ridgeline.

That is my thought - it has some good features, but I didn't even consider it becasue I think it is ugly as sin (I know that is a personal thing, so no offense to anyone). The fact that it is unibody just made it that much easier for me to pass on looking at it very hard.

If you like how it looks and it works for you, more power to you.

The Ridgeline is an awesome truck, that will check of all the boxes for me. It will do everything I would need it to do. But there is one thing that I can't get passed. THIS "TRUCK" IS BUTT UGLY.

It really is ugly, and wimpy looking, with an underdeveloped "modification culture," and these are important considerations (admittedly, all subjective). The newer models with their own "Black Appearance Package" are an improvement but still fall far short of the Rangers in the looks department....

The Ridgeline is the perfect truck for the truck stuff that a lot of people do, they just don't realize it :)

A lot of trucks nowadays are used more for a "lifestyle" vehicle and the Ridgeline is great for that, as long as off-roading is not part of that lifestyle.

Carrying kayaks, trips to the Home Depot, getting out in bad weather, Ridgeline is terrific for this.

But it's not quite a "real" truck and you will find its limits if you use it like one.

I remember the early Ridgeline owner who was in construction and traded his F250 Super Duty for a Ridgeline.

He ended up bending the "frame" and buckling the body panels from driving onto construction sites.

While many would immediately think that it would be absurd for a Ridgeline to do the same job a Super Duty was doing, many others will immediately see a lower price + better MPG + everything I do is within the listed specs = Profit! Never mind that in construction, most likely what they do is in actuality much heavier than what they think it is.

The Ridgeline would have worked for me. All I haul is my garbage and recyclables to the dump and my gas and diesel cans. I just couldn't stand the looks of it.
