Hey y’all. Yesterday, I pulled the lever to spray wiper fluid but nothing came out. When I got home I checked the washer fluid level and it’s still full from the dealer (Truck purchased 1/1/2020) and then I tried the sprayers again but still nothing came out. I heard the sprayer motors come on and the wipers worked. Has anyone else had this issue?

Is it possible that it’s frozen? If not, I suppose I would look for a loose hose or just go ahead and take it to the dealer.

Second vote for frozen, that's how my jeep behaved when I got it from Florida in January, the washer solvent was frozen before I got back to Michigan :) All noise but no spray.

I live in Georgia and it hasn’t dropped below freezing. I went ahead and made an appointment but they can’t get me in until the 19th. It’s more annoying than anything.

Then it's possible the line popped off. wet the window a little bit and hold it down for a few seconds and see if you see any washer fluid spraying out onto the ground from under the passenger wheel well. It might be something you can just re-plug in and avoid a trip to the dealer altogether.

I try to avoid trips there at any cost.

...or pinched. Especially near the passenger side hood bracket... check for pinches along the way.

Hey Jason, I agree with the others have said. One question: Has it worked previously? Or was this the first time you've tried it?

If the pump is activating as you said, it most likely rules out anything serious. I doubt the nozzles themselves are clogged (the chances of both being clogged equally are kinda slim). My guess would be a pinch in the tube as @BHunted mentioned, but hard to tell without seeing things obviously.

I'd also check to see if the dealer actually put windshield wiper fluid in the reservoir and not water.

I have used it several times before and it worked as expected. I assume that it’s wiper fluid and not water backseat it has a blue color to the fluid and not clear. I tried holding the sprayer switch for about 30 seconds and nothing came out and I checked my garage floor for any French fluids but there weren’t any. @BHunted ’s idea that the line is pinched sounds most probable. I just had a pin installed in my foot so my mobility is limited to hobbling. But hopefully I’ll find the pinch.

I really appreciate all the help guys. This is about the best and friendliest automotive forum I’ve been on.

When you start getting into vehicles with adult sized prices which aren't juvenile vehicles (I'm lookin at you Corvette owners), you start getting people with adult sized manners.

Glad to help out whenever needed, but man you should have seen the people on the Focus ST forums and how they behaved.

I also agree to try to wash the window with the hood up and look for drainage on the passenger well. Had something similar happen on a 2017 Fusion and it turned out that an inline connector had come apart and i was spraying fluid inside the hood.

Yeah, when I had my Mazda Speed3 the forum was terrible. I’m sure the focus ST forum was about the same.

Juvenile attitudes for juvenile car owners :)

I loved that car, but the community was generally degenerate :)

Update: the fluid line was pinched. It was caught under the hinge. I did not realize that the sprayers were attached to the underside of the hood. If someone could take a pic of their line just to make sure mine is routed properly, I would appreciate it.

That lil tuft should go behind the hinge if I recall. It’s were the 2 lines come together. There is also a plastic push clip to hold it in place.
