My last manual shift car was an '81 Honda Civic wagon, my daily driver for work and doing automotive side jobs. Honda makes probably the easiest manual shift cars to drive, I even taught several family members how to drive stick on that poor car. At that time I also owned a '91 Ranger S/Cab 4.0 OHV automatic, but it was much easier to haul my tools and stuff in the Honda. Would you believe that in addition to my tools I once stuffed a complete Ford 390 and a portable engine hoist in it?Haha, Ram trucks are actually pretty nice, I just didn't want a full size and wanted a backup camera. Had a hard time going Ford over Chevy but liked the features on the Ford a little better. Before my Ram I drove straight shift Frontier several years but got stuck in a traffic jamb on a hill near Chattanooga and bout wore my clutch leg out. So upgraded to an auto (Ram) and now backup camera (Ranger). These upgrades ain’t cheap....
After 3 years of commuting in stop and go traffic for at least 1 1/2 hours daily, I grew weary of a stick, so the '81 Civic got replaced with a '95 Accord wagon automatic.
The 10 speed automatic in my 2020 S/Cab is sweet...never going back to owning another right arm rowing/left foot pumping car again, unless it's something very interesting.
