I’m unsure if this topic fits here or not. I finally going to get my side windows tinted on my ‘19 Ranger which I’ve had FOREEVER. Forgive me,I’m old.

Can’t decide between tint that’s 25 or 35. Suggestions?

I’m considering having my windshield tinted to reduce heat. I think it’s 80 and told it’s legal. Will this affect visibility to an old man? I live in the south and dread another hot summer.

TN law is 35%. I have 35 on mine and wish it was a little darker.

80 is what I have on my windshield and 35 on my other windows. I would be more concerned with the side windows being too dark affecting your ability to see your side mirrors vs the 80 on the windshield. I hardly notice the windshield tint on mine at all. I never get any aberrations with polarized sunglasses on.

3M Ceramic all around on mine.

I'm doing 20% on the windows when I get my new Tremor. I had 35% on my 2019 and it was way to light. On the windshield I only do the visor strip not the whole windshield. One thing to keep in mind is it's very tough to see at night when they're tinted to dark.

Definitely check to see what the state laws are. Mind you most will be either 27% or higher depending on the state. Even a 50% will be better than no tint..... Unless you are in Arizona..... Then it doesn't matter how much tint you have...... Looking at you @AzScorpion ?

One of the first things I did to my truck when I got it in Oct of '21 was to tint the 2 fronts a shade lighter than the stock rear tint on my Lariat.
Driving at night was stressful for me looking out the front windows...my eyes are not the same as they were when I was in my 20's...and I'm only 57! That's just me.
I removed the front tint, myself, on the fronts after paying good $ at a excellent shop.
Like you I really wanted the tint to block out the Sun's ultraviolet rays, keep the cabin cooler.
But it was a strain to see out!
The windshield I would NEVER do. Just my opinion. Good Luck to you!

For the windshield itself definitely double check the state law as it might only allow the top 4 inches of the windshield only.

I had my shop match the rear. Can't remember the percentage.

It's dark. But I'm a vampire. It is more than legal limit here. But cops in Colorado don't sweat that.

You lost me at windshield though.

Not a chance. I have sunglasses and like I said, I'm a vampire, I drive a lot at night.

There's only so much you can do when you live on the face of the sun. This poor guy only pulled over for 15 minutes for a few customers.o_O:oops:

Here's my Jeep for reference. The fronts are 20% and the rear glass on the top are limo tint. I'd have to open the windows at night sometimes to be able to see in darker lit areas.

I had them match my front tint with the factory tint on the rears. No issues with night driving. Like Doug said, cops usually don’t bother with them unless you’re in a small town or county. I was only stopped one time with my last truck, and it was by small town cops in Hillsboro Beach FL, (8 cops, 4 of which are Sergeants patrolling a single 3 mile road through town), but they were just fishing. I rolled down all windows to put them at ease. No ticket or warning. They also stop people for 2 miles over the speed limit, so be aware. Cops in TX and CT have never bothered me.

you can tint your windshield with a clear UV blocker only. it does not block any light but it does block the UV portion of it. helps keep the inside cooler esp when combined with a sunshade. I have it on mine, its legal here in Texas and I love it
