I bet the dealers are only performing visual checks to see if the installation was done properly and then correct the issue(s) as necessary.

The installer(s) responsible were probably transferred to a different department after undergoing 'retraining' (vacation) at full pay (instead of going to jail) - ask me how I know.... That company left Jacksonville, Florida long ago following a complete collapse of 'unit cohesion'....

Got my notice and took it to a dealer I trusted, but unknown to me the previous owner sold it. The new owners hadn't changed the sign yet so far as I knew it was still the old dealer. A bunch of new faces for the service writers which isn't uncommon for me since I used to do most of my own work.

I think that is going to the wayside though as I get older and these trucks get more complicated. So I get a notice on my Ford pass app the my collision avoidance system was deactivated. Thought okay I know they are working on it. I pick it up the next day and told the service writer about my notification and looks at the truck and says no warning light your good to go.

Fine Ive only had the truck for 3 weeks at the time and not familiar of all the new systems yet. So as I'm driving to work I noticed some black smudges on the headliner by the camera in a place hard to see but can't be unseen when you do.

This is my first trip back and they clean them off and glad they came off. So now I'm wondering about the camera and hook up forscan and find a code for the camera calibration "great". Set up anther appointment go in only to told we don't have an appointment for you and its going to take 3-5 hours not 40min that I was told.

I set up another appointment and told a different SW I need a rental now because you guys dropped the ball on this. After some talking back and forth they finally agree. I go in and the SW that sat up the appointment denied even talking to me. After some more words and her looking on the computer and seeing the approval I got my rental.

40 min later I get a call truck is ready, so instead of keeping the rental for the day I go and pick it up. 2 months later and crash avoidance system still doesn't work and no codes in any of the modules green across the board. Well I'm not taking it back to them I'll eventually try another dealer.

Moral of this great wall of text is: those of you who waited might be the smart ones, end of story :lipssealed:
You can thank me later....

And what have you produced in the hundreds of thousands?
Hey if you're happy with paying tens of thousands of dollars for a new vehicle, and then finding out that the manufacturer couldn't do something as "easy" as putting in a windshield right, then I'm sorry for you.

Just makes me wonder / worry about something a little more complex. You know, like an engine, transmission, or emission control system. Oh yea.... search "bucking" on this forum. Seems Ford has a little problem there too?

Every vehicle company has issues here and there . I've been in the auto business for near 40 years and have seen them all . Blow things out of proportion much ? LOL

From what I understood, it's the material they used to bond the windshield in place. I'm assuming that Ford doesn't actually make that stuff. But, if you think Ford can't do the "easy" things, don't buy one!

No actually I don't think I do. I think FORD, and ALL the others, do the ABSOLUTE minimum. Heck look at the "Deleted" list here on this forum. And, I DO think putting in a windshield in the 21st century should not invoke a recall.

The ONLY reason I do own a 2022 Lariat / Tremor w/ ALL the bells and whistles is because of a very unfortunate (for that manufacturer) little "problem" with the brand new / just over 1,000mi (exactly the same miles I have on my "new" FORD) "other" manufacturers truck that I really wanted. See my new FORD, it has the same sort of problem apparently, as that other new truck I recently had (right off the showroom floor, unbeknownst to me the day I bought it, but discovered soon after when I washed it for the first time).

The "other" brand new truck as it turns out had a leak in its rear window. That "dealer", over the span of nearly 50 days, had it about 4 times to "try" and fix it. Every time they'd turn it back to me "all fixed sir". And every time I'd drive it the 3.5mi home, run the garden hose on it and it still leaked. AND durning these "attempts" they damaged the headliner, one of the leather seats, the trim on an inside door, needed to "do some minor body / paint work" on the body around the rear window. ALL of this on a vehicle that WAS brand new, just over 1k miles at that point.

So.... me and my lawyer had a little "fun" with that manufacturer. We had them pay me EVERY cent back - a FULL buy out.

So... now I'm looking for another brand new, everything on it, truck. NEVER thought I'd drive a FORD, but here I am. I mostly like it. Well, except for the "ball and socket" mounts left on the hood and fenders for the "deleted" hood "shocks", along with the other very long list of deleted items. But, that's another story.

Now not long into ownership, I see things floating around here and there, and then it is confirmed to me in a letter from FORD that my windshield may have "wind noise, leaks, and MAY detach in a collision". My new truck w/ less than 1k (so about 3 1/2 tanks of gas?) is going to need to have IT'S windshield pulled, the area correctly "cleaned and prepped" and then the "proper" adhesive used to correct what should have NEVER been an issue. Come on, ANOTHER mfg. that can't even do a window right?

Well... so.... I did some "extensive testing", looking for leaks. As of now I can not find any, and trust me, I used A LOT of Californias precious water to make sure. I have it in writing from FORD that this "recall" never expires and is transferable. I made it clear to them, the Mfg. / FORD AND the dealership (and of course this "issues" would be handed by a 3rd party) that the ONLY reason I am NOT pursuing the recall (now) is simply because I don't trust the work would be done right, or to my satisfaction and without causing other damaged to my brand new truck.

So again, no, I don't think me, or anyone, being concerned about this issue should be considered "blowning out of proportion". If a Mfg., ANY Mfg. can't do THIS right, how do they even manage to build and engine or transmission correctly?

Remember the old FORD commercials, "Built FORD Tough" and "Quality is Job One"?

Well....

The way I see it is we bought during a pandemic and there were decisions that had to be made to keep lines running. Not all components for making adhesives were available so substitution may have been tried. There was not time for proper testing so a problem arose later. I am happy to have had my truck delivered and it makes me feel good knowing that Ford is following up and repairing issues that arise from substitutions that kept lines running. My windshield was fixed at no cost to me by a bodyshop and glass installer that do it daily with zero damage to the truck. Ford did step up to the plate when the problem was discovered and so far I have zero other issues with the truck. Should I have an accident or problem later on involving the windshield Ford is responsible and not me for failing to have a recall performed. We are still in different times and can't let little things get us down. There are some with major issues also and there are lemon laws to help them that were put in place 30 years ago due to the fact that mass manufacturing is not perfect. It's not just Ford that has issues like this and buying from a good dealership even if the price isn't the cheapest makes a world of difference.

If it makes him feel better (I doubt it) let @Ranger Lariat vent.
He does make me feel better about my own bad attitude.
The main thing I learned early in my recovery is alcoholics/addicts are convinced their way is the only way. I try to refrain from that.

I noticed this on my windshield as I was going over the truck prior to my trip to Overland Expo East. Is this what yours looked like?

Well, it's "blown out of proportion" until your brand new vehicle, the day you bought it is defective - leaking water into it. AND your "dealer" can't fix it, and further damaged your vehicle trying to do so. So yes I am blowing things out of proportion.

Yes but just in one corner they said they have seen several so that they took pictures to make sure it wasn’t hit and they would contact ford 20,000 miles and about 1 1/2 years old
