Wouldn't it be great to get a Ranger Wildtrak with a 325hp 2.7 or better yet the 365hp 3.0 like in the Explorer.

I don’t think we’re going to get anything powertrain wise until 2022 when the next gen comes out. The Ranger is already hands down better in nearly every aspect than the competition; for crying out loud, Tacomas still have drum brakes! I can’t see Ford needing to refresh a new truck and piss off the first year buyers; name one other vehicle Ford has had wherein they put a new powertrain in after the first year? I cannot think of any.

I don't really think Ford cares if they piss anyone off if they did they wouldn't have dropped the 3.7L v6 from the Mustang. But I think your right Ford won't change much with this gen Ranger but I do believe the Ranger will get the 2.0 diesel.

No doubt the diesel is coming - a bona fide torque monster.

I wonder if small things like one up/down windows, cooled seats, and power recline make it for 2020.

Maybe but more likely in the new gen 2021 model.

That would be nice only the drivers window with one touch up and down is a little irritating.

I hope Ford uses the same cooling seat system that's in my MKC, it's fantastic. I've owned and been in other brands with cooling seats and Lincoln has the best set up. The seats actually can get too cold and it's hot here in SC.

The 3.3 makes zero sense to me. The market Ford was/is after has accepted turbos for a while now and the 2.3L is probably more CAFE friendly with better capabilities. Unless the 3.3 is a cheaper ( to produce ) option, Ford could make it the base engine and bump the 2.3L price up as a typical $1000 or so option. I don't see the sales supporting a diesel, especially the 2.0 from the global Raptor as it is a high strung engine. The 2.7 would/ could be in the cards for the next gen 2022, probably completely based off of what the market does in the next few years. I really like the exterior styling of this "old" new Ranger. I wish they would have not cut corners on a rear split folding bench seat, wired keyless entry and I'd much rather have heated mirrors over the power fold feature. Other than that, I really really really think this truck was executed well considering such a short r&d. I know, it's a lot of carry over, but it's a solid truck. I love the 2.7, but I wouldn't trade and lose just for it. There's plenty of tunes for the 2.3L that have proven very reliable. So to the question of what will change for 2020? Likely a new color or 3??? :fistbump:

Yeah, a friend of mine just got an MKC... those cooled seats are sweet.. a little strange feeling at first since I've never experienced them before... some cars have ventilated seats but these are cooled...
Definitely some room for improvement at the trim levels... maybe give the non-lariat versions the key surround and engine cover.. those still stump me a little on a new-ish model you're trying to use to take over the segment.. auto-folding mirrors - like the MKC - would be nice.

It's funny, when I was researching the Ridgeline. Canada gets headed and ventilated seats... the U.S. just heated... not sure I understand that logic.. lol

I would like to see the push button start and the garage door opener make it over to the XLT
Yup super surprised once I got home with my XLT sport w/tech pkg it did not have a opener... not the end of life but my 2009 Ram Crew Bighorn had it..

Always interested on the evolution or de-evolution in some cases vehicles take. I'm not the slightest interested in swapping out anytime soon. The only reason I bought this was b/c my son [New Driver] is getting the 2009 Ram Crew, bighorn HEMI I've had for 10 years...not gonna buy the kid a new vehicle [or even a new 'used' vehicle]..You get dad's hand-me-down, 145k very well kept, some rust but other than that everything works as advertised. Sure beats the $500 '76 Chevy Malibu 305 rust bucket I had to buy, insure, fix and gas myself in the 80's. [I lucked out in the 'good' parents dept]..

A few issues if they are listening on the 2020: I've only had it about a month...
better armrest position/length, much like the newer escape.
garage door opener on XLT
brakes a bit goofy on take-up length [travel]
dampened tail gate

My prediction is 2020 will be all about BRONCO... when Ford blows our mind by announcing that Bronco is now a Brand onto itself.

There have been plenty of rumors that will happen and Ford saying Bronco will go toe to toe with Jeep that makes sense.
