I am hearing a high pitch whine on my two day old 2020 Ford Ranger XLT. The video is from driving at low speed in the parking garage, the first morning driving into work. I am taking it back to the dealer tomorrow. If anyone can identify (or "relate") to this noise, I would certainly appreciate your input!
Thanks!

Is it when you take off in 1st gear? Like a dull roar? If so, that's the engine fan. Caught me off guard first couple times too. Unless you're talking about something else.

Here's a thread on the noise that Jake mentioned, though that's more of a "roar" than a "whine." It's a very concerning noise at first, but completely normal and harmless.

"Whine" makes me think maybe turbo whine. There's been a number of threads on here about that as well (exhibit A). This noise likewise can sound worrisome if you aren't accustomed to it (it certainly worried me at first), but is a completely normal part of the engine operation.

Sorry, I thought the video attached but I guess it didn't. I sent a message to Admin for help. Anyway, the noise is VERY high pitch and happens mostly in first gear at very low speeds. It has also occurred while in reverse. It definitely not the turbo and it isn't a sound I have ever heard before on any other vehicle I have owned.

Dealer will tell you 1st and reverse whine is normal. That does not sound like the trans though.

Thats not fan roar. Defn not a normal noise.
Is it easily repeatable? What makes it do it most: Brakes, turning the wheel, gas pedal?
Almost sounds like a really bad brake squeal.

Ill be honest at first it sounds like its coming from somewhere else in the parking garage.

Unfortunately, I am day two with my truck and it pretty "repeatable". It is happening without applying the brakes and happens when going straight or when turning, all at very low speed.

Unfortunately, it isn't the dull roar that you hear when starting out. It is definitely "something else" and it isn't what I would consider to be normal by any stretch of the imagination

After watching it a few times, I am betting it is something drive line or brake related. Most likely brakes. Try giving it a couple good hard stops back to back before going to dealer and if noise goes away then it will save you the trip. Either way you won't be out anything.
I don't think it is coming from the engine because in the video you did not change the rpm.

Thanks for the suggestion. It will give the hard braking a try and see if it helps. That would be great if it were that simple. I must admit that I am a little concerned being day 2 with this brand new truck and I haven't purchased a new vehicle in over 20 years!

Something is rubbing or grinding. You're not using 4H or 4L on dry pavement?
If its a brand new truck take it back to the dealer. Use your warranty while you have it.

It is definitely not normal. If that doesn't help, as others have said, take it back to the dealer. It almost sounds electronic to me. It is a very odd noise for sure.
