Ok, how do you install these?
'basically' pop the stock ones out and pop these in. Except I'll be connecting the defrost and BLIS and adding a jumper to piggyback on the turn signal.

Nice looking truck and that insert grill makes a big difference. Are those the Rough Country tow hooks?

I just installed them on my Race Red Ranger and would like to know where your red shackles are from.

I got them off of amazon
Gear America locking shackles, I believe $80.00 for 2

I'm looking for a smooth pavement ride with extra awesomeness for dump runs!
Smooth like buttah!
Not to burst your bubble, but the ride difference won't be drastically different.

My 4600's definitely helped my ride, but a "night a day" difference? Not really. The crap leaf springs are still a major factor.

edit: Don't get me wrong, they're definitely worth the money.

Good to know and at $158 I won't be too butt hurt if it isn't a magic carpet ride! =)

I'll soon know, I'm heading out to install them now! =)

my expectations after - smooth sailing to the dump! =p

I bet bigger tires would help smooth the ride.
Personally, I can't justify dropping 1k on tires when I only have 10k on the crappy duelers.

or Crapplers as I call them...

Same here, I'd like some Nokian Outpost nATs but, like you said, that's $1000 and I only have 3,200 miles on Soupie!

I'll be posting about the shock install but I'm glad I did it. It's hard to quantify and the best I can say it feels like the ride has been muffled. Like a big heavy blanket tossed on Soupie.

The rear end bounciness is slower and heavier feeling and less whippy.

I had a set of... wait for it... "Linglong Crosswind ATs" on my dodge dakota. Made in Taiwan, but balanced well and were cheap. $800 after installation and fee's.

Loud as all hell though.
Before people go "But Muricah!", they were made for US specs so simmer down.

But yes, the 4600's settled mine down as well. Nice not to feel the wheels bounce off the ground from rough roads.

Funny about made in the US, the Nokian's I'm looking at are made in Tennessee and the "n" of Oupost nAT stands for this North America edition of the tire (ot tyre as they spell it).

Get a nice 12 x 12 x 2 inch thick board to put under it. Those little bases will sink into the ground and get tippy. Most of the flat pads come with rubber glued on to prevent slipping. Not sure if yours came with a clip on pad but it's a good idea to add some.
Here's what I welded onto 40-year old Craftsman jack has:

You should have just changed the oil and o-rings then painted that one. I laminated (3) 12 x 12 x 3/4 thick marine plywood together to use under mine. But welded steel is a better idea. .

Finally got a nice bottle jack for Soupie. Thanks to @AzScorpion, and others, for turning me on to U.S. Jack and SAFE JACK. All made in the US! =)

It's wicked dark out with heavy rain, so the lighting is on the harsh side using an Ego LED work light.

I make an effort to buy American. I use an arbor press for my game business and have pressed nearly 10,000 mint tins with it. I could have gone with a $40 Harbor Freight China model but bought a $398 US made one. It's been fantastic and keeps tight tolerances.

So when I got a jack for Soupie, I followed @AzScorpion's advice and went with US Jack. And despite what I'm writing next, I'm sure it's a damn fine jack but ...

It's expensive at $315!!

And, clearly, they don't actually test them individually because as soon as I started jacking on it, fluid started running out of the piston assembly.

We'll see how they treat me, I anticipate that they'll provide great customer service.

IMG_20230812_123443720.jpg

And it continued leaking when I jacked up the other side ...

UPDATE: I bought it through Amazon and a replacement will be here by the 14th, so we'll see how that goes. Free shipping of the defective one with a nearby Kohl's drop-off. Fingers crossed! =)

I was writing my post about the leaking US Jack and you're so right.

I want to rebuild this old jack. It's pretty frozen up but a little Marvel Mystery oil should do the trick!

Thanks for the encouragement - this old jack has been through many things, including that "stuck in the swamp for three days" story I often tell. After digging out holes for the jack under the bumpers (the FJ settled on the frame and body) and continually jacking wood deeper and deeper into the swamp, I was eventually able to raise the FJ to get saplings under the tires. It took 3 days of jacking to do that. Followed by some Come-along work. Once it was about a vehicle length away from where it sunk, I floored it in low case 4WD, in reverse, and crashed through saplings and didn't stop until i was back on the dirt road. Oh to be 16 again! =D

So I owe it to it to restore it!

Marvel Mystery oil is the best thing since sliced bread. Used to put a quart in every oil change before the days of synthetic oil to keep the lifters clean and quiet.
Lately I have been using a product called Blue Creeper that in my book is a miracle fix for any frozen rusted bolts or tools. They also make a sewing machine light oil that is a very pure lubricant. It's not cheap and shipping is costly but can save a day. Here is a link https://logrite.com/Category/bluecreeper
I love the little precision needle bottle because most problems only need a couple drops.

Yet another thing to order, but it sounds like just the right thing!

Thanks you! =)

I got the little metal plate for inside my gas cap. I'm going to have to come up with some standoffs I think.
