Just got informed that it needs a differential carrier part. Which i think is where the ring gear set pinion is. I'm not sure, that's what it said when I googled it.
I hate to hear that. Since it is a drivetrain component, I assume I'll be covered for the 5 yr/60K warranty. Need to keep an eye on it.

Out of curiosity, do you have an open diff or a locking diff?

I have 2022 Tremor with 30,000. I hear a fairly loud harmonic sound at 70mph when letting off the accelerator from 72mph. I listed to your video. Sounds the same. Taking mine into the dealer next week before my warranty ends.
Yep mine has that same harmonic sound at about 69-71 for me. Just part of the good craftmanship from Ford.

Update: Took my truck to Bob Tomes Ford, McKinney TX. Senior drivetrain mechanic road with me for five minutes. Immediately acknowledged the issue coming from the rear. Said it needs a new ring/pinion gear set. They are going to order the part. Also said this was the first time he’s ever had to do one on a Ranger. I’ll update again after install to confirm if the problem is solved.
Did they give you an eta on yours?

For me he said the part is back ordered but are working on getting it from another dealer.

Nope. Not yet. I’ll follow up. My guess is it will be awhile.

I have the same sound, as do many others. I'm not entirely sure it means something is wrong. I'm not seeing a corresponding amount of people complaining their rear diff or drive train exploding. I notice no vibrations or anything. As much as it sucks, it may be normal.

I know there is a TSB where Ford says you may hear odd trsamission hums/ sounds sad they say it's normal. I'll try to find it and post it here.

I believe what we're hearing is this. Again, from watching these forums I'm not seeing issues with drive shaft or rear differentials blowing up, at least not as common as the transmission

The whine i noticed after buying the ranger. You could easily hear it when going through a drive through.

The noise im getting now is unusual and just showed up recently. The video i posted is a little soft compared to what i hear in the cab.

Yea, your problem could be unrelated. But I do see a lot of people complaining about the harmonic humming noise at the exact same speed.

At the dealership now for this and have been told the rear end needs to be rebuilt. It has way too much play in it. They said it’s a 15 hour job.

I just dropped mine off. Going to take a week and a half to look at it. I would go somewhere else but they make you wait for an appointment which takes longer.
UPDATE: Dropped mine off Wednesday. Picked up this evening. Ring and Pinion replaced. No more harmonic sounds from the rear end. Appears to be resolved.

Still waiting on mine. Don't know what these jerks are doing.
Sorry to hear that you have to wait. The wait is miserable. The only reason mine was finished so fast is because my son’s friend is a mechanic there. I was able to ride with him and the driveline tech who identified the issue a couple weeks ago. He ordered the parts and called me to bring it in. I hope yours is resolved soon.

That's good you were able to get yours fixed. I just left a nasty gram review on their website. The rep hasn't updated me at all since I dropped it off

I have a similar noise at lower speeds also, but it has always been there. Just a droning noise when you let off the accelerator. It's not terribly loud, but it is noticeable. It takes the faintest touch to the throttle to make the noise complete stop - like a toggle switch. I doubt it's a gear noise.
I have this. It’s done it for the last 80,000km.. it’s the muffler. When you let off the accelerator I believe the engine cuts the fuel and it’s just a deceleration drone through the exhaust.
