Has anyone weighed their stock wheels or stock wheel/tire assembly? I’m searching for new wheels/tires and would like to find something very similar to minimize excess unsprung weight.
I’m purchasing volk racing wheels the 17x8 is only 17 pounds. They carry our lug pattern and bore spacing is 112. They’ll fit no problem .I’m excited to feel how different it will be at a total of 40lbs lost.

Will they hold up to loads/towing/offroading?

Beautiful wheels and will for sure be strong. I used Volk and Rays on my Mustang on race tracks... not a single one ever failed.

RAYS makes some wonderful wheels. I had a pair of white 18" TE-37's on my 1999 Prelude back in 2000. The weight savings was amazing and instantly felt..... just that price! ouch!!!

i personally think the weight is only important when it comes to not giving ford ammo to say your heavy tires/wheels caused a failure. So that means to me sticking with a size and type of tire they supply or downsizing and playing with the wheels some. In my case, if i go down to 17's, i will reference that the LT265/65R17 is an option on our trucks, at least with fx4 package. Per the brochure. So the weight that matters to me, would be the weight of that 17" wheel PLUS the LT tire they supply. Tire rack says that tire is a hankook dynopro atm and it weighs 44 lbs. There are lots of other tires at that weight you can choose from. So that's my max weight. If the wheel is 27lbs-guessing- that's a total weight of 71lbs per wheel/tire assembly for your max and as long as you keep same diameter and width, there is nothing ford can say about it.

With as far as those -10 offset wheels are going to stick out, you're probably going to kill any positive effects of lower unsprung weight with the added wind resistance and scrub radius.

That was just a pick of the wheel actually going with 30ish + offset I don’t want them sticking to out to much.

stock 17’s are 25lbs and my stock tire is Bridgestone dueler h/t 685 255/65/17 are 33lbs, Wheel at tire weigh 58 together.

TIre Rack says the 265/60 18" is 35lbs, putting the 18" wheels around 31lbs. Not much heavier than the 17s. Going to an offroad LT tire is about 55-60lbs, quite a bit heavier that the P-rated ATs that come with FX4. 18 or 17 inch rim is a wash compared to that.
This is interesting if so. I'd love to know the weight of my OEM 18" rims as 27 to 31 lbs is a decent enough weight variance that may affect my tire choices. If the 17" wheel is 4lbs lighter, I might go the 17" route. This is my current 18" rim.

Which stock 17 are you referring to? There's at least two different 17's that come on Rangers that I've seen. One is 55mm offset and one is 42m for example.

Just weighed 2019 XLT alloys (17x8, part #KB3C-1007-KT) with lightly used (25k) Bridgestone dueler A/T RH-S 255/65R17s 58.2 lbs for the wheel and tire. My Ranger is a 2023 XL with the 16x7 steel wheel that has Bridgestone Dueler 255/70R16s, my guess is they come in at 45 lbs or under for the wheel tire.

Has anyone here weighed a stock 16x7 steel wheel tire? Wow, those Volk wheels are LIGHT but I'll skip a beat when I see the price...

Remember, not all pounds created equal. One pound near the axle (wheel) weighs ‘less’ and is easier to spin and stop than the extra pound spinning further out (tire). More important to keep tire weight down.

I went with Firestone Destination XT, lighter than other LT tires by a few pounds.

My 18” lariat wheels with the factory Hankooks weigh 63 pounds
My 18” RTRs with 285/65 Ridge Grapplers weigh 84 pounds. It made almost 25rwhp difference on the dyno! Also very noticeable on the street in almost every way.

Well that was a bit of a surprise. I pulled off a stock 16" steel wheel with the 255/70/16 tire and did a test fit of the 17" XLT alloys with 255/65/17 tires I bought yesterday. Dang, forgot to take a pic down the side of truck to see if the 17" wheel stick out any further (extra drag) than the 16" steel.

Stock steel wheel/tire are 56.4 lbs and 17" XLT alloy wheel/tire is 57.4 lbs. Only 1 lb difference!
Using the weight of the tires from Tire Rack for the respective Bridgestone Duelers the 16" is 31 lbs and the 17" is 34 lbs so that leaves
25.4 lbs for stock 16x7" steel wheel
23.4 lbs for XLT 16x8" alloy wheel.
