I don't know how you guys drive your trucks but if you have the AEB set to the least sensitive setting and are depending on the AEB to be the sole application of the brakes (as opposed to you stepping on the brake as soon as you hear the alert) the ford setup is the way to go. My experience...
We are talking milliseconds here, Once the AEB kicks in the light comes on and milliseconds later the brakes are engaged which any of the Redarc brake controllers react to. For anyone concerned with those milliseconds I hope they have their AEB set to the most sensitive setting.
My opinion the factory ford setup (which involves tearing up the headliner and such to get to the 3rd brake light) is too much trouble and wasn't available when I was looking for a controller for my 23 XL. I ended up buying the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty off amazon for $135 and posted pics of the...
@subquark I haven't found the need to press the button and manually override the brake controller other than to confirm the brakes are working. I think in an emergency situation you should focus on paying attention to your driving as opposed to taking your eyes off the road momentarily to press...
Common Stealership tactics... The manufacturer of the car... as in the people that designed and built it and provide the warranty.... Have recommended service intervals published right in the manual. Mr Stealership doesn't read the manual, didn't design or build the car and gets paid by the...
On my 23 XL. I've been procrastinating this ever since I bought my 7x18 enclosed car hauler but fortunately it went to my buddy's place to get self tapping sheet metal screws switched to steel rivets, fix a small leak, and install D ring tie downs, a winch, and get new tires put on.
I mounted...
I'm 80% complete on a Redarc Liberty Pro trailer brake controller and planned to put the adjustment knob on an unused switch panel behind the turn signals on my 2023 XL. How the heck do you get this thing out?
Finally got around to looking under the dash in my 23 XL, sure enough there were two small blue tape bundles that I undid and that freed up the wires. You can see the 4 wires separated from the bundle here (with heat shrink on the ends)
Ahhhh, thanks! Just found it in the owners manual. So you pull on that "handle" If you can call it that to access the fusebox and more importantly the trailer brake controller wiring? I'm obviously too focused on trailer brake controller wiring since it looked like a trailer with an electrical...
What the heck is this? Its just above the hood release handle, is it supposed to indicate that the trailer brake controller wires are behind this panel? It looks like the back of a trailer with an electrical signal in it but if you feel up underneath there isn't anything there.
I have a variety of hitches I use. For the car hauler the tongue is up pretty high, I used a straight hitch (no drop at all) with the big ball when I bought it and it sits a little too high in the front so next time I'll use a 2" drop hitch and that should be perfect. For the other towing I have...
Thanks @subquark, that is a great writeup on the ranger station! I'll have to look for my wires this weekend. I have had to move my newly acquired 7x18 V nose car hauler twice now without trailer brakes, supposedly 2000 lbs empty and I have been taking it very easy and using the tow mode. My...
One other thought regarding spending the extra to get the Ford version of the Redarc that ties into the AEB..... The Redarc Liberty and Elite Pro controllers are both proportional so if your AEB kicks in your truck will slow down (pretty rapidly I imagine) and you will probably have your foot on...
12/30/23 update... After spending too much time looking over the options and all the forum posts it looks like I'm going with the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty option. The factory Ford option (Redarc/Lumen) is out of stock currently and although my 23 Ranger (US model) has the AEB I have to admit after...
I took delivery of a 2023 XL Supercab at the end of January. I liked the Maverick (if you ordered) but they kept delaying the opening of the order books and I'm really not into the quad cab with short bed. Being able to get a supercab Ranger sealed the deal for me and seeing the 24s were only...
I have 2022 Bronco Big Bend alloys on my 2023 Ranger and didn't have to do anything for the TPMS info to be picked up. I read on a thread reply somewhere on this forum that if you have TPMS sensors installed the rubber schrader valve will bend one way (away from the rim?) but not the other way....
