I fly the flag in his memory...

Best,

My Dad was drafted right at the end of WWII. But sent home as it was almost over. Then drafted for Korea. Served in the 45th Div there.

I was right next door at Camp Castle in 02. Not sure when that was built but it was just a bit north of Casey. We could hear the Casey sirens for the drills before ours went off so we had a bit of warning on was about to happen.

Happy Veterans day to all our fine service men! When I get home today I have a few things of my Dads from WW2 and will update this post. He was in the Navy on a hospital ship which was hit by a Jap Kamikaze. He was a nurse and was in surgery when the plane hit his ship. He got his name in his home town paper for his bravery and the bronze star. :flag OK pictures of my Dad Galen and his Dad and Me and my Dad Galen. Plus my Dad did this frame of his WW2 stuff. His ship was a hospital ship but it wasn't white like most hospital ships. Also the best thing that Dad and I have ever done was the Honor Flight back DC. That was so awesome 4 days touring the war memorials, visiting the capitol and the Air museums. WAY AWESOME! Thanks Dad!:

I hope you typed very slowly. We do have Marines on here and they are generally slow readers.

I feel like it's 40 years ago and I'm out drinking with Marines! Let the jokes begin! Miss that crazy bullshit. Good guys. Good times. Lot of laughs.

Most importantly, as the OP said, regardless of branch we salute every one that served, is serving.

I enlisted in the Army in Jan 89. I was a glorified grunt with a shovel (combat engineer) that went looking for land minds in the middle of combat. I gots smart and reclassed to a machinist right after I returned state side from Desert Storm.

Not only did I purposely go looking for land minds, but I also jumped out of perfectly good airplanes and repelled out of helicopters. Yeah not the most intelligent things to do but it was fun.

PS; it is always fun to pick on the other branches. But let someone outside of the family say anything and the game is on.

Hi Folks,

Tonight at sundown, I went out to my American Flag and began the process of rolling it up for the night and I had to pause to realize the sacrifice that our armed services have given, endured or may in the future face. A tear to my eyes... And to my life as a Air Force brat... A toast to our armed services! ?

I lived the Military lifestyle...being shunned by locals that hated the "base kids" etc... being outcast as it were... I was and still am proud to face the Flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. ?

Best,
Phil
