Our FX4 is very, very soft and giving, too much so for the road. It is an off road tuned softness that makes for poorer on-road control and for towing? Forget about it. I did not like the shock tuning on the regular 4x4 either. But the answer indeed is to install shocks that are tuned to one's own personal taste and personal use. On road "sport" handling? On road Lincoln Towncar ride? Off road trails or Off road rock crawling? heavy RV towing control? all these require a unique shock package. Sorry, but the OEM shocks, on any model, are mediocre at best, trying to throw a lollipop down the middle of the plate. If your personal taste/use is outside of that? It's time for shocks that are tuned to your use. Nature of how a truck is used and Ford cannot please everyone with the factory stuff.

Do you have the LT tire option? They are recommended to be 35psi and those tires could affect ride quality as well if that’s what is on your truck.
I am not sure what the LT tire option is but my window sticker says 265/60R18 A/S BSW TIRE

That's the issue right there.

Trucks drive like crap compared to cars. They all do. The only people that think a truck drives nice are people that only drive trucks.

I have a Volt and a Buick Regal GS also. When I go from either one of those to a truck all I can think of is what a garbage driving vehicle this is. When I go test drive trucks I'll take my truck for an actual comparison. If I take the car I'll not like any of them.
It is the first truck I have personally owned but I have drove and rode in trucks a lot and have never experienced a ride as poor as this one.

I initially had much the same impression of the "bounce house ride" but resolved the issue with the Ford Performance Leveling Kit, which adds front and rear shocks and coil overs and stabilized the ride. Now I love the ride, the higher stance of the cab, and the enhanced clearance. You do not have to put up with what is for you a bad ride since it can be improved. As for the seats, I find them comfortable in general, and they only bother me on really long drives, which is pretty much true for any vehicle, and so I am just leaving that alone. In previous vehicles (not Fords) with problematic seating, I solved the issue with supportive devices like this one at https://relaxtheback.com/products/mccartys-sacro-ease-car-back-support. Please do not get rid of your Ranger until you have tried these two options. It really is a great truck once you get it customized a little....
Do you think just getting the regular fox suspension and not the "ford performance tune" would yield the same results?

$200 for a suspension "tune" seems a little obsessive?

It really goes to show how subjective ride quality is. I drove my 2005 Ranger to the test drive of a 2019, and the difference was night and day - I'm glad I did because it really illustrated the diffeence. The 2005 was pretty harsh (typical for pickups) - the 2019 I loved - it does have a certain "bounce" to it, but it smooths out the harshness of the road, IMO. My only suggestion for improvement would be slightly better rebounding to reduce a little of the bounce. I normally only feel that on a flat road - on rough roads or other places it feels GREAT.

Overall, I LOVE the ride on my new Ranger - especially as it is being used as a daily driver.

I'm curious - what do you think is so poor about the ride quality in the Ranger? Is it the bounce? Or something else?

Question about the ride; do you think the Hankook Dynapro tires would offer a better ride than the Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires? I'm looking at upgrading to the grey wheels because I like the aesthetics but wondering if the tire change would help or hurt my ride.

I think a completely smooth road the ride is great but ANY bump and it is just ridiculous how bumpy/bouncy it is. A big bump and its almost enough to give whip lash lol

I honestly think I can fix the "bounce" issue with suspension but I am very concerned I will not be able to solve my seat comfort.

What's the build date of your truck? I'm wondering if Ford messed around with the spring rates, or shock valving, or seat designs at some point? I read a lot of folks that are upset about the ride quality... we find our SuperCab FX4 ride to be "like a truck" and the seat comfort to be over the top fantastic. But we've been driving mid sized trucks since 1985.

Build date on our Ranger is 07-19-2019

I have seen allot of comments about it, like the truck is always in motion or you can get motion sickness driving it, front is floaty or bouncy.

Matter of fact the thread about the Ford leveling kit mentions several times it gets rid of it.

It is also bull off road is what makes it feel like that. I have driven the ZR1 and TRD offroad and TRD pro and they are not bouncy.

I didnt feel that when i test drove a FX4 and non FX4 and it didnt feel that bad. I was actually looking for the bounce.

I will say this the Ranger rides a little more like a SUV to me than a truck and is more bouncy than my Colorado but not extreme. I do not think it is in your head though because it comes up allot. I hope I do not feel it when mine gets delivered.

Question was the seats heated or non? Were they manual or electric?

Like I said I felt the difference between the two different models I drove. Not sure what made the difference though. You would think seats would be the same.

It seems like 8 out of 10 folks that have issues with Rangers... have Rangers built in Feb 2019. Anybody else notice that?

You know what I would do? Go test drive a different one and see if it does the same.

My wife has put on over 145 thousand miles on her 2011 Explorer and loves it. In my Ranger, she absolutely loves the ride over hers as do I. The only time it rattles me is if I take a road camber change too quickly (like turning 90 degree coming out of steep parking lot onto road). Simply take the maneuver slowly. On the highway, baby rides like a limo, albeit I did change to Eibach kit.

Interesting. In a "normal" truck when you hit a bump it is so firm/hard I would say you could get whiplash.....:) One reason I really like my Ranger is because it softens those hits greatly. The slight downside is that it occasionally does feel a bit "floaty", but nothing that is a big deal for me. Again, it always amazes me how subjective ride quality is. What feels great to someone feels TERRIBLE to someone else. I guess that is why there are options for suspension.
