Can’t believe we’re dealing with another Ford transmission issue. Our 2022 Tremor had its transmission replaced under warranty in June. Now our 2022 Escape PHEV with 16K has issues. Brought the Escape in to our dealer for an oil change. Got a call from the service advisor saying that when they dropped the underpanel to drain the oil they noticed transmission fluid on the panel and drips on the bottom of the transmission. Note: no evidence of leaking on our garage floor or driveway. Anyways after they cleaned and test drove it a couple of times they found the leak at the transmission housing halves. So the engine and transmission have to be dropped and then transmission housings split and resealed. Transmission is a HF45 ECVT and is also used in the Maverick hybrids. Maverick forum has a lot of posts about the same issue. We’ll be without the Escape until late next week. On the list for a loaner but can do without it if we need to. Ford will pay $40 a day for up to 10 days for a rental if we want one. Disappointed of course but impressed with how the dealer caught it and how they are responding. Glad we have an 8 year /72K ESP premium warranty looking forward.

Sorry to hear about this. We had a 2020 Escape Hybrid and had no issues other than the repetitive recalls for engine failure. We traded for a 2024 Escape ST line with ecoboost power.

Got to see it and talk to the tech ( same tech that swapped my Ranger transmission). He thinks they’ll have it done by this Friday. Hope so. Poor sealant application process at the factory. Second one he’s done, other was a Maverick Hybrid which was about the same vintage. We’re so fortunate to have a good dealer service department.

Sounds like the issues Ford had here with the rear main seal on the 2.2 and 3.2 diesels, the seal isn't a tap in one, its part of a big plate that bolts onto the end of the engine block. Because it crosses the region where the lower engine (aluminum) girdle bolts to the main engine block (cast iron) there was supposed to be sealer applied at the point but it appears that for the first 5 or so years of production that it just wasn't applied properly or at least not enough. So the end result is that more than half of the trucks sold developed a rear main weep which wasn't actually the seal itself but the installation. Why it took so long to rectify I do not know, as the diesels were only made in a couple of plants worldwide.

OMG I didn’t notice this at first but there’s a wasted CDF drum sitting on the cart next to my transmission. Get that thing away from there ! ?

So this is not one of those you tube workshops which look neater & cleaner than my kitchen. This one looks like people actually do work there.

Hi Steve,
Had my share of trans issues w/ my '19 as detailed in my posts. Sitting at 32k miles now and considering extended warranty. Mind if I ask how much your 8 year /72K ESP premium warranty was?

For the Escape it is actually a 8 year 75000 mile Ford ESP premium plan. We got it through @Zach@granger for $1240. Also have a 6 year 75000 mile same plan for the Ranger and it was $740. Both of these were purchased when vehicles were new.

When my '21 STX 2WD was new, I bought the Ford Premium ESP 8yr/125k thru Grainger for $1640. That's was with key, lighting, and 'enhanced' rental.
I traded it in for a '24 XLT FX4. Grainger refunded $945 of that warranty, and applied it to a new Premium ESP at $2300, so I only had to make up the difference.
Yours may cost a bit more because it's not new, and will probably be considered 'used' as the OEM warranty is out. But definitely something to ask about.
