At the end of the day everyone is going to have their opinions on which tune/company is the best/worst. All you can do is research and listen to other peoples experiences and make the best decision for your situation. I personally chose Unleashed Tuning. Torrie has great customer service and a great reputation in the ecoboost community. I also liked his quick response times as well as his willingness to datalog the truck as many times as it takes to get the tune right where I wanted it to be. There are many different tuning companies and they are all pretty reputable and have their own positives and negatives. Read peoples experiences reach out to the tuners and companies and go with the one you like best for your situation.
10000% true. I don't like pissing matches but felt obligated to jump in when it was explicitly stated NOT to buy a 5star tune. It's okay to state what you like about your mods and move on. It's not right to tell someone not to buy one thing because what you have is better.

I agree 100%, I have heard a lot of great things about 5 star and they are one of the few, if not only, aftermarket (not Ford) company to offer a warranty on their tunes.

I like Frenchie alright but he does come off as having a very matter of fact attitude. Then again some people probably think I'm a jerk because I like to passive aggressively take shots at the ricer versions of ranger owners. Like plastering special ops military graphics all over their tuck or putting f150 badges on their rangers along with every product from the "my first bro dozer" catelog.

Then again my truck may be super rice too who knows.

5star fixed the limp mode issue very early on. I indeed hit this issue when driving through the smokies and was one of the first to report. They told me all tunes sent after they corrected it on mine would automatically have this revision. The limp mode issue is a thing of the past. Frenchy loves to push every mod he personally has on his truck to a point of you thinking he might be sponsored. We ALL know how much he loves his OME suspension.

Moral of the story, many of us run 5star tunes, I'm probably one of the earliest adopters on this forum and can tell you it runs flawlessly (20k+ tuned miles) and I drive my truck hard. I also do some heavy wheeling (not just gravel/dirt roads on a mountain) and this tune handles it with zero issues and my truck still runs like new.
As an unbiased window shopper of tunes I can tell you their entire operation just doesn't put on a good look.

Some of the things I see as a casual observer deciding upon who/how to tune my Ranger in the future are...

Elimination of stock ECU capabilities i.e. barometric calibration.

"Tuning" via wild ass guess rather than datalogs.

A history of, possibly corrected, inattentive customer service.

And I'm waiting on the results of the so-called tune warranty on the blown engine thread.

There are 4 major tuners that are all over this board. One seems to have the most knocks against them.

I'm glad you're happy with them but I personally don't consider them a wise choice at this time and would caution anybody looking into them to do their research.

This is a forum, I'm pretty sure that we all know that most of what's posted here is opinion.

This.

All day.

The grocery list down the fender is pretty ricey.

But most of your build I would put in the "tact-i-cool" rice category. Which I personally like a bit better than the "overland" rice category. ;)

Fair enough - Not super fond of the roll call either, but let me put this out there you don't get nothing for giving nothing.

Mutual benefit etc etc

It is just my attempt at a process new to me. They may be coming off-soon depending on some near future outcomes.

Sweet.

Who's your sponsor?

Just curious as according to your build thread you bought all the products (that are on your truck) on your list from different vendors, and one of them is just a wish.

None at the moment. I'm testing the waters to see what happens with a few, if it results in nothing they will be coming off (the cost for the vinyl was pretty minimal). While I would buy the products regardless of sponsorship, I view the attempts at dialogue as a business transaction. Kind of like how a marketing company will plaster a company's logo on a pitched product in an effort to entice them and give them visual cues.

Again, this process is very much new to me, I scavenged what information I could on the web and am kind of rolling with the punches.

Gotcha.

Good luck with the efforts. Playing with our toys can be pricey and every little bit helps.

I guess I’d fall in the “overland rice” category lol. Hey, at least it’s not a mall crawler. ?

All jokes aside I've made sure every mod of mine serves a purpose or function. No ones going to be laughing when I show up after a major natural disaster with 1000lbs of hot pockets and 5 industrial microwaves running off solar power.

That's a cool end goal.

I did not realize this was the goal of the build. Might I suggest mounting the microwaves where your Plano boxes are with ramp type hot pocket dispensers on the rack above?

No No No, the Plano boxes are for the hot pockets. Though for the sake of health regulations I probably need to upgrade the Planos to Yeti's with dry ice to keep the hot pockets at optimal temps prior to nuclearizing in the micros.

Im thinking the microwaves should be mounted on the front of the bumper so they can also act as bull bars

As long as you don't have ACC that should work. You don't want the microwaves to interfere.

So... it’s an off road capable gut truck? I like it!
