I took in my 2020 ranger for transmission disgnosis as it was clunking, erratic shifts, and at one point loss of power. They had it a week and after calling numerous times inwas told it was flashed snd ready to be picked up. The notes are short but it says TSB 24-2101 was performed, i tried looking online and couldnt find what this was. Is anyone aboe to link what this describes? The truck drives a little smoother but as soon as i sat in it to leave had a huge clunk into drive so not feeling great, about done with this thing.

Last I knew TSB 24-2046 was the latest. Maybe updated? Or a typo?

Honestly it wouldnt surprise me if it was a typo, they initially called me saying they replaced my battery, i was like what are you talking about lol?

It says the following:
Test drove the truck and verified concern, erratic and harsh down shifts. Found TSB 24-2101. Ran self test with FDRS, passed. Updated the pcm and tcm. Performed the trid strategy download. Performed the adaptive learn drive cycle. Post road test, shifting properly at this time.

I find the test drive part hard to believe as it went in with 31835 mileage and came out with 31835.. just want this thing to run right. So ill drive it wround for 500 miles or so and if its still wonky back in it goes I guess. Thanks for the response!

Updated - Same Procedures, just added the option to Replace vs Repair for (LTIS - Low Time In Service) aka under 36,000 Miles (Dealer's Choice)

Yeah , strange they removed the 3 year/36000 mile’s verbiage that was in 24-2046. Still referring to LTIS for repair/replace though. Did something change in the LTIS policy?

Only Verbiage Change:

From This:

NOTE: For Mexico, USA and Canadian vehicles less than 3 years old and has less than 36,000 miles (60,000 km) the dealer has the option to continue with this TSB repair or replace the transmission under the low time in service (LTIS) policy.

To This:

NOTE: For Mexico, U.S. and Canadian vehicles which are low time in service (LTIS) policy eligible, the dealer has the option to continue with this TSB repair or replace the transmission under the LTIS policy.

LTIS policy for replacing engine and transmissions is 12 months 12000 miles. So they dropped a couple of years off. Still can be repaired but they cut back the time/ mileage for replacement substantially.

IT by day, shade tree Mechanic... also by day
I just got mine back this week with a new transmission, it whines a little, but otherwise it shifts better then it did when new. 18 months and 19k miles. I think it really depends on the dealer.

I just got mine re-flashed yesterday.
A few months ago my wife said she pulled out of a parking & it went into neutral, then slammed into 1st.
Never happened again. I noticed since the beginning
that when I stopped it would feel like I got little kicks as
it was downshifting. Forgot to mention this at last oil change in November.
So, oil change yesterday & almost forgot to mention it again....

Interesting bits...

This bulletin supersedes 24-2046

A lot to do but only if necessary.
As I did not have much issues they only re-flashed.

So far, smoother accelerating & stopping.
I'm at 81k km, or 50k miles.

Still love the truck!

Thank you for your input and experience!

I did notice the 1st to 3rd shift is immensly better now after leaving the dealer and stopping was much better too. Could feel proper downshifts and no slam in the rear when taking off so far.

Still need to put miles on it, but hope it drives better. Wasnt happy with the initial massive clunk, if i wasnt pressed for time would have gone right back inside.

Love the truck as well and as much as i would love to be done with the whole transmission fiasco i dont think there is really anything else i want to drive atm. New vehicles are way too costly.

Way too expensive, I want the PHEV if it comes out next yr.

As for the clunk, I did not experience it but they do say it will shift a little hard the first few days.

Good luck! I'm hoping mine is a unicorn & get 200k miles out of it ... lol

I had the reflash done and was ok for a bit then harsh shifts returned. They did the valve body clean/check and it threw a code in the shop. They replaced the valve body. Shifted terrible the first day then straightened out. It did drive a bit better but now with 400+ miles on it the 3rd through 6th shifts are becoming more noticeable again. I’m going to put some more miles (30 ish)on it towing our 6000lb trailer to the dealer Monday and then we do a 800 mile round trip out of state next weekend without the trailer. If the 3-6 issues continue it’s going back to the dealer. 2022 Tremor 16.6K miles
