The xlt unlocks the drivers door upon approach. Then once you open it you have I believe 10 seconds to put the key in the ignition or the alarm goes off.

You're mistaken.

Not even Ford's Intelligent Access, only available on the Lariat, does that. You still have to hit the button on the inside of the door handle to unlock.
