Truck "bucks" at slow, steady speeds

Anyone get this issue fixed? Mine started doing this, this week, after a trip to Austin. Truck has 53,000 miles. Wondering what the fix is? Inquiring minds want to know......

If you've read the thread, lots of people (myself included) have had the DPFE sensor changed which fixes the issue. It is a relatively cheap part that is relatively easy to replace.

Update. Had the DPFE sensor replaced. It started out great. Thought problem was solved. It within a few stop and starts it started again. But not as often. I got on it up to about 4000 RPMs, to keep from a simi running me over and lo and behold it started running g very smooth for a couple days. Don’t know if that had anything to do with it or not. Then it started over again but still nothing like it was before it was replaced. So I guess I’ll just live with it. TSB-19-2052 addresses this problem I believe for Rangers built before 11 Feb 2019. Mine was Nov 2019. Oh well!

Could they perform the TSB even with the build date being off by a bit? It is just a reprogram from what I read on the TSB.

I’ve noticed more than usual symptoms of bucking lately on these cool mornings,…..so after 4 years of ownership, I replaced the ENTIRE UNIT I had previously purchased in 2022 this past holiday weekend……

easy and no boo boos……. use a stuffed towel for fumbles

high idle off start seems to kick down sooner….. see what winter brings……….

seems to run/shift better, but tranny can still lug and engine/tranny still needs to warm up…… relearn/.back to school.?


overall, I’d say my $22 investment back in ‘22 was worth the 2024 cost of $100 today …… I should have redirected some of my investments back in ‘22

that being said, I hung up my old one to dry.
I would not advise using non oem hoses…… the OEMs
have the correct angles bends and tapers to different ID’s

Another update—- I took a 700 mile trip and running 65-75 mph. When I got back, which has been 2 weeks now all the bucking and low speed misfires are gone. Runs smooth as silk. I’m thinking maybe there was a little moisture left in the line after the DPFE was replaced and the drive blew it out. Either way I love if now!!! Ford was going to charge me about $500 to install it. Bought the OEM part for $90.00 and had installed for $30.00.

It took a couple of days of steady use for my truck to settle down after replacing the sensor. I used the original hoses. It 90% better immediately, and now it's 100%.

So it’s got to be because there is water vapor left in the line farther down then. I wonder if you used something to vacuum it out before installing the new one if that would help? Or would an inline filter work?

I looked for water in the sensor and hose lines, and didn't find any evidence. I didn't see / feel any dampness. I kept the old part and may try switching it out again after it sits for a while to see if the problem follows the part. It's now a 10 minute job to swap it out.

I watched a video of a guy busting one open and found lots of water in it. That’s why I thought if it did it again, I would try putting an inline filter on it.

there's no point, the build dates reflect when the new software was deployed (they'll just be putting on the same software)

Yeah, I saw the same video, and have read accounts on this forum of others finding water. It's a mystery to me. But changing the part cured my low RPM bucking.
