Truck automatically locked

I had a strange thing happen on my XLT FX4 ranger. Yesterday I got home and locked the truck with key fob after exiting. Did the double hit on lock key fob button. It made the horn beep, so I know I locked it. This morning I went outside to check things after a storm during the night. I did not have my keys or phone on me, walked outside still about 10 to 15 feet away from my truck and it locked and all lights flashed. How could this have happened?

Yeah, it was a good one, lots of places without power still. Nobody else had the fob unless was a ghost in my house!

NC was rocking with that storm yesterday...

...that happened to my Mom's Fiesta when I took it for an oil change...they left the keys in the car and it auto locked which caused a long delay for lock smith...I'm always afraid this might happen while filling gas at the pump

That is the strange part on mine, no key left in car or on me and locked the previous night. I was like is this a security feature of the truck, did it sense something coming near it and locked and flashed it lights with all the sensor on these trucks nowadays?

If have a tech package with push button start...then it would have a proximity sensor (I think) when the fob is close enough...

Thanks for input! I will have to play around to see if I can replicate it. I don't have the push button start and my key was in the house, why I am going nuts over it!

LOL...maybe someone in the house locked the truck while you were walking out?

Everybody else was sleeping, maybe was a gremlin hiding out in my house playing tricks on me! LOL!

We had a 2014 Escape that would mysteriously open everything on the car--windows, hatch and sunroof! Nobody ever figured that one out. It would do it even when nobody was around.
