Towing With Non Limited Slip FDR 71

Okay my Axle on door sticker says it is 71. Owners manual says all the limits are with the 3.63 Axle. What are my limits with a non limited slip axle? I am in the process of adding a Curt Hitch, OEM 7 Pin and OEM Brake controller. I have a 19 XLT 4x2.. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you do not mean a 3.73:1 axle ratio. I am not aware of any difference between the locker axle and the non locker axle with respect to towing. What does your owner's manual say...that should be your guide. I am guessing limits means the Max Trailer Tow Rating. Am I wrong?

Thanks for responding, 3.73 is correct and that is the chart I was referring to in the manual. As you can see it does not include the other two axles 71 and 73 which are I assume the Non limited slip and the limited slip. I also assume that the 3.73 is a beefier Dif. for lack of actual knowledge this is all assumption on my part. If I am correct that the 3.73 is beefier then i thought that maybe the other two would lose some towing ability. Or is it possible they are all 3.73 with one being limited and one not. I hope all this rambling is clear. Thanks again.

I don't believe the 2019+ Ranger comes with a limited slip differential option. You may be confusing the electronic locking differential option with a limited slip. They are quite different things. The electronic locking differential is manually engaged (and does not require any friction modifying additive BTW for the diff oil).

I don't think there is any difference in towing ability between them.

There are only two axle options: a Dana M220 open diff or the same M220 with a locker. The only drive ratio available is 3.73. From what I’m reading, I believe the M220 is the latest generation of the Dana 44. Tow rating is not affected by whether the axle is open or locking.
