This past week I finally had the opportunity to tow. This has been a fairly long process for me selecting everything new from ball mounting hitch, trailer and towed toy.

Towing ~3300 Lbs (trailer and toy). Towing 250 miles US and 250 miles Mexico. Towing in US was through mountains with quite a few 6% grades and temps up to 98 degrees. Towing in Mexico was mostly flat with so-so roads. Speeds at 55-60 MPH ( CA interstate Hwy says max speed when towing trailers is 55MPH)

Setup:
Lariat FX4 with tow package

added items:
Adjustable height tow hitch ball mount
Ford TBC
Tandem axle Carry-on Trailer with elec brakes at 1500# unladen (sold at tractor supply co) rated at 7500 GVWR
Honda Talon SXS at ~1800lbs stock

The Ranger tow haul mode is a marvel of engineering. it does an incredible job of managing your speed, using gearing, shift points, engine braking, going up and down grades. Kudos to the engineers that built this. Absolutely no issues with pulling power, transmission or cooling temps. Just select tow/haul mode, standard cruise control ( not adaptive cruise control which I turned off before towing). A notice pops up saying ACC is disabled anyway, when towing with cruise control.
