I laughed when they push for people to only buy electric but then asked them not to charge their cars because their power grid is probably to worst in the country. I’m just so confused why more people leave every year. Why wouldn’t you want to pay top notch taxes to fund these kind of decisions.

Move out of that state before it’s two late. Best thing I ever did for my family. I sat by and watched many of the areas I used to fish, hike, and bike ride become overrun by miles of homeless encampments, graffiti, and trash. Not a single politician cares because they don’t have to live around it and see the literal filth everyday. They also don’t t care how much you spend in useless taxes and increased prices (apparently one being natural gas) because once again it doesn’t affect them. Get out while you still can. My quality of life has honestly tripled since leaving and I can now provide for my family with relative ease without worrying about what price/tax will they raise next. Just a humble opinion from someone who spent 25 years growing up in that state and watching it deteriorate.

It really destroys me to see what has become of the beautiful place that it is, and that people keep voting for the same people that have created the problems in the first place. We just found out that that our friends just down the street are moving to northwest Arkansas- the latest of many, many friends that have moved out of state. I was born and raised here and feel like we are being forced out. At 65 years old and with my son and his family here, though, we may have to ride it out. Time will tell.

It's not just California. I am a little older then you and have just about had it with NY. It's becoming the east coast California.

It’s really unfortunate. I just pray that those leaving California end up assimilating to the foundational virtues and beliefs of states they are moving to and not trying to change them. It’s painful to see Californians move somewhere else because they know something is wrong but keep voting the same way. Makes no sense. I will say that I helped my father who is sick move across country and out of California. He finally had to leave at that was at 70 so there is still time for you and you son ?. I joined the military in order to actually leave California. After my service, I ended up in Oregon (California 2.0) and told my wife if we were going to ever leave it had to be now. We watched Oregon try to destroy itself (quite literally if you followed the news lol). Many of my friends were jealous because they felt obligated to stay since their family was there but hated living in fear of loosing the state they used to love, so I definitely understand that. The grass is always greener as the saying goes, but this time it definitely was.

We have gas heat, hot water, fireplace and stove. December had several single digits below zero nights, plus holiday cooking & baking. We've got a two story townhome of about 1,800 sq ft and we are home all day. Thermostat at 70º day (7a-10:30p), 64º night, 7 days. Vacation is set to run at 64º 24hr, although we're usually not gone more than 3-5 days in the winter; none on this bill:

Not too bad all things considered. I didn't save the electric bill, but we're on a $100/mo budget.

My brother is retiring this year and plans to move from Oceanside, CA to Tennessee or Kentucky. Housing and taxes are far less there than anywhere in CA.

Shame too because Oceanside is a cool area. We used to go down there and stay then drive a bit further down and go tuna fishing. I can’t imagine how much more expensive it’s gotten to live down there. We’re in Tennessee now and it’s been great.
