Apologies if this is covered elsewhere already, but I'm a fan of the Retrax retractable covers and see that they're at least a bit cheaper owing to Cyber Monday so I'm inclined to scoop one up. I also have some FordPass Rewards points to use, so before ordering from Retrax I took a look at the Ford accessories site. It looks like there's an identical but re-branded Retrax cover available from Ford. But the problem is that the Ford version appears to be $1K more than the Retrax version, which would more than negate the value of the FordPass points. Is this huge price difference because the Ford version comes with a pretty blue oval, or am I missing something? Any advice on the best and least expensive way to get a Retrax-style roll-up cover (that has the T-slot rails for racks/accessories above the cover) would be most welcome. THANK YOU.

There are two versions of the Retrax....the "One" which has polycarbonate (plastic) slats, and the "Pro" which has aluminum slats. The "Pro" is what Ford sells as the Embark LS.

Pro MSRP is around $2250 i think? I've seen the Embark LS for around $1700 recently...much better deal. The One is quite a bit cheaper, since it's mostly plastic, but has solid reviews, especially from people that garage their trucks, avoiding extensive prolonged UV exposure (fading).

Clarifying, thank you! Though still a $4-$500 price difference.

Also, do you happen to see the polycarbonate version on any of the Ford accessory sites? That one (with track rails) would suit my needs, but so far I can only find the more expensive Aluminum version.

I looked into these when I first got the Ranger, but never got a cover.

The Retrax branded one is easier to get spare parts for. At least that is what I recall when I did minimal research. IIRC, it was because Retrax seemed good about replacing broken components if you call them. Ford is unable to replace a component on the cover, only the entire cover.

I don't believe there is a Ford branded polycarb version, I've only seen the aluminum version. Offroad Alliance had some good pricing on the Retrax One, last I knew...they may even give a discount for being a member of this forum.
