On top of that, at 350yds (1050') a 6' tall human appears to be about 1.75" tall...there is very little value in pushing light further unless you're spotting elephants, or standing completely still so that you can see any detail or movement. There may be *some* value in pushing up to about...
I don't believe there is a Ford branded polycarb version, I've only seen the aluminum version. Offroad Alliance had some good pricing on the Retrax One, last I knew...they may even give a discount for being a member of this forum.

There are two versions of the Retrax....the "One" which has polycarbonate (plastic) slats, and the "Pro" which has aluminum slats. The "Pro" is what Ford sells as the Embark LS.
Pro MSRP is around $2250 i think? I've seen the Embark LS for around $1700 recently...much better deal. The One is...
Phantom Canyon is a cool road, but it is definitely a road (no clearance required). Go up Old Stage Road from COS, then Gold Camp Road, then do Phantom from the north. All can be icy depending, that's not ideal, but all are cool roads. One of the tunnels on Gold Camp is supposedly haunted...
Is there a specific area that you're going to, or that you'll consider a home base? How far from said "home base" do you want to travel on any given day?

Parked near a wee rock.
(Johnny Park Road, CO -- Mt. Meeker (and a bit of Longs Peak) -- "Difficult (5)" for the first mile (from the east), found out how much shorter my old 2-door Jeep TJ/JK wheelbases were than the truck! Definitely knocked those steps around a bit.)
The 5G on your phone will assuredly be faster than the ATT in-car, since that is 4G at best, and old tech.
It works pretty well here in Denver, handy for work shit.

Like: Most everything....except:
Dislike:
- Squishy Brakes
- Manual parking brake (make it electronic or a peddle, storage is lacking already), also my parking brake doesn't like to stay down, and it triggers the doo-doo-doo occasionally.
- Lack of ergonomics of the infotainment/climate...
Same, not really holding my breath. I think the full integration won’t be complete til late 2023, so when we all trade up to G6, mayyybe we’ll have it. Ford is listed as a dev partner, FWTW.

CarPlay is getting a massive overhaul later this year, hopefully our vehicles will be on the list of those getting the new stuff. The update is supposed to allow us to customize all of our screens, and control radio and HVAC via CarPlay. Woot!

Putting LED bulbs in Halogen fixtures is illegal per federal law, just FYI. The lenses are different, and aren't intended to be used with LED. Of course, enforcement is rare, just make sure you know the laws before you break them ;).
Back on topic, thanks to everyone for sharing their rack and...
Roger that. The Morimoto ones adhere to the letter of the law here in CO, they are reflective and the light is amber or white and can be seen from 500' away. While there is always some gray area with regard to ANY modified lighting on a vehicle, I think we're safe with these ones.

My 6/22/2022 build Lariat Tremor w/ 501A has LED head/fog/tail lights, for what it's worth. Hopefully yours does as well, definitely an upgrade over halogen.

Thanks Phil! I have read your threads/posts with great interest, always great to have a former engineer in our ears. I do not plan many mods, mostly accessories.
For mods: blackout side marker and mirror signal lights, black/smoke badges (blasphemous, I know), probably hood struts, possibly a...
Thanks Dave, I appreciate the welcome. We already have like 8 bank accounts for our various projects, what's another right?? ;)
The information here is great, I've been lurking for a while. I've had a couple of Wranglers (TJ & JK), so I feel comfortable with the hardware and 4x wrenching. That...
Top o' the mornin'! New member here, from Denver, CO (VT originally, long time ago). I picked up a Tremor all of 10 days ago after an exhaustive search. I had been looking for a red pepper or carbo gray tremor within 500 miles of Denver for several months, whenever I would find one, it would be...
