I am looking to get a tune also…
I hear peak numbers on 91-93 octane fuel, but I hope to run 87-89 fuel.
What are Livernoise tow/haul gains on 87/89 fuel. Haven’t heard those numbers…
Much over stock?

The Livernoise Tune is meant for a Octane Rating between 87 to 93. It is best to use Premium Fuel(91 and up) for best performance and Towing. I can tell for from experience that you would be best with premium fuel even when daily driving with that tune

peak numbers aside you’d want to just run 89 minimum (preferably 91 or 93 as Frenchy mentioned.) if you get the tune.
Realisticly if you don’t the tune will still wake the truck up quite a bit.. I got the livernoise tuner as well. There are other pretty solid tunes out there as well and those would probably be better suited to see peak numbers if that’s one of the more important details..
My thought process was a safe reliable better than stock performance tune. Tunes aren’t really cheap but I feel the value is there.

Thanks OGM. Torque is what I am looking for.
Usability, eco mindedly speaking thus thinking regular fuel.

I’m just an old guy that’s tuned his vehicles in the past. I love doing it but this little 2.3 motor is awesome already. So I don’t see the “need “. In the past yeah but stock fits me well. HP equation = high performance equals high prices.. just my experience. Have fun you all and best of luck!!

There's a shop here locally, Geaux Moto in Ponchatoula, that is the local Mazda Miata gurus. He specializes in doing track prep and engine swaps in Miata's. His son Dayton is running a 425+HP 2.3 EB (on E85) in one that he has entered in the Optima Ultimate Streetcar challenge. Troy (it's his shop) has a built 600 Honda K motor in another. Troy's Miata had to have Tremec Ford Explorer independent rear end to handle the additional torque.

Anyway, Dayton's EB engine has larger turbo, intercooler and such, and flogs the shit out of that little Miata on the track, and has been for 2 years now, and the bottom end is holding up just fine. He swears by 5 Star tunes! On open track days, his 1700# Miata with 425hp will flat out embarrass rich guys in their Porsche GT3's!

Since E85 (actually E80 by a test) is readily available here in NOLA, I contacted 5 star and Will says they do E85 tunes all the time, without any mods to the fuel system or injectors!
