Added this to my truck for remote start and shock sensor. Sensitivity can be adjusted after install.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM - FORD PERIMETER PLUS

  • When there’s impact to the glass or a body panel, the 2-stage shock sensor determines whether to issue a warning chirp or full alarm
  • When activated by your Ford Dealer, the Basic Remote Start System is also included; start your vehicle from up to 300' away
  • LED Warning Light Kit also available – lights up when system is activated

Recommend purchasing install from the site.

That's surprisingly reasonably priced, but I don't get the install option.

Edit: I don't get the installation option from my first dealer selection. Selecting a different dealer brings up the install option for a fee ranging from $40 to $100

Now we're off to see what kind of install fees I can find for the Tow controller.

Edit #2: Looks like the Tow controller install is $150 at all of them, which sounds like a done deal considering what a pain it apparently is to install.

In Texas we have the right to use deadly force to prevent theft at your home or in your vehicle. Not saying I would to stop a vehicle theft, but if it comes down to it, smoke-’em if you got ‘em.
If they try to steal anything from your home or driveway, you can use deadly force to stop them. No threat of bodily harm required.
Texas law allows a person to use deadly force to protect themselves in their home or vehicle. Therefore, the Castle Doctrine only applies if you were in your vehicle when someone tries to steal your car. For instance, say someone tries to carjack you at a red light or in a parking lot after getting into your vehicle.

Found out the hard way about leaving a charger cable visible. In 2008 I took my 2007 Sport Trac to New Orleans and stayed at Harrahs for the July 4th weekend. They broke out the passenger window and took the GPS cord (I had the GPS with me), change cup full of Canadian coins, my house keys and generally made a mess. They went nuts trying to find a release for the factory tonneau cover but there is not one. That cover is about 4" thick, heavy steel. Ford did their job on that design.
I try to never leave anything in a vehicle since then.
yeah, I know when iPods and MP3 players were popular, people would just leave them in their glove boxes or center consoles but the cord would be exposed. Inviting thieves. I know because it happened to 3 people I know. Never happened to me. I learned after hearing the stories

I hope these new Ford’s are secured down.

This happened in broad daylight.

Stole my backpack from the front seat, it was empty. Maybe a pocket hand sanitizer in there, and a snickers bar.

Alarm did not go off.

Stay vigilant, friends.

Sucks this happened to you Same exact thing happened to me at In 'N Out in NorCal. Drive-through line super long so I went inside to order. They were watching me! I put briefcase on floorboard behind passenger seat and covered it with a towel. Sign on door warned not to leave valuables in vehicles. Perfect reminder so I watched my truck entire time EXCEPT when I placed my order. That's when lot man smashed and grabbed. Lost iPhone, Laptop and External hard drive. Police reports and complete security weekend followed. Seems they would've gone in under flip cover as well if I would have stashed there. SO, new mode of ops--bag goes into ALL stores now leaving no trace in cab.

It’s only going to get worse as governments cave to lawless mobs. Chain gangs use to take care of lotta crap.

Yeah, it might deter the opportunists for sure. As for me, I'm going to tint my windows soon. If someone wants to break in badly enough, they will succeed. But I will be more conscious of what I leave in plain sight, and make it harder for them to see though the windows. I also bought a usb motion sensor alarm, I activate it anytime I'm in a public parking lot.

Because apparently a $15 black backpack is enough to entice someone to break into a new vehicle in broad daylight.
How did you persuade the BMS to serve the power for this device longer than 15min?

edit: got it! Device has a battery! Top! I want one, too!

Yeah, battery operated, stands guard all night. 12volt charged, also has a usb-c outlet to charge it via the provided cable.

It has a blinking blue light which I don't like personally, I would rather have it concealed in case I do get broken into at night the scumbag won't be able to find it as it's blowing their eardrums. But even if they do find it and unplug it, it still operates! The only recourse would be to toss it away at that point. Speaking of which; It was designed and made in Germany, and the alarm this device produces is so loud, that it actually starts to hurt if it's not turned off.

I like it. I've made it into a habit now to turn it on as I leave the cabin in conjunction with locking the vehicle. I also bought a cabin facing dash cam, so if I get broken into again at least I will have a video of everything going on inside. Even though the cops can't do anything, I could get a viral video out of it and hopefully expose these scumbags for the world to see.

Short of being there and catching them in the act there is not much else I can do.

As someone who's been in active law enforcement for 14+ years, in two states, I can tell you guys that right now there is essentially no repercussions for criminals, and they know it. We've arrested shooting suspects and they're out 3 days later with an ankle monitor. Thefts/property crimes? They don't even see a day in jail. I'm in the crime prevention unit now, and work with businesses on a daily, and I truly feel bad for them. A lot of them are getting wiped clean daily and nothing happens to these guys. Some of these businesses have either closed down all together or moved somewhere else.

It's frustrating to see what is happening to this country, along with our society. It's pure anarchy.

Don't want to move in on you pain, but this is part of the aftermath of the break in on my 2010 Ranger. They were not gentle in removing a $400 Pioneer head unit - worth about $50 on any DC street corner. They also broke the rear slider, the dash surround, and left a half eaten pear under the seat. I was still finding broken glass when I traded it in. Total damage for insurance was over $2000. :curse:

Part of the reason I retired in May after 25 years as a LEO. Had enough.
In Harris County, TX criminals get out on OR bond after being charged with Capital Murder. Yep. That’s right. Charged with capital murder and OR bond. It’s so common now they are repeat capital murder offenders. It’s crazy.

It's absolutely disgusting what they are allowed to get away with these days. I moved out of HTX and Harris County to a suburb where the Police are still well liked and supported and criminals go to jail.
