Two days ago I started having a strange issue with my 2019 XLT. When I unlock the door with the fob, there is a message on the SYNC3 panel that says "Turn off ignition or start vehicle to preserve battery". Also, the parking sensor chime has changed to a high pitched 'ding' instead of the normal lower pitched sound. If I start the truck remotely, there is no issue and the sensor sound is normal. Even the three 'ding ding ding' alert uses the high pitch instead of the normal sound.

I have SYNC3, 3.4, Build 21194. This update was installed in early spring 2021.

I have tried a soft reset of the SYNC but that did not help. Not sure if the issue is in the APIM or the SYNC. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your battery is low. Does the truck sit for periods without running? Might need to have the battery checked by the dealer. Or have it on a smart charger if it is going to sit longer than a couple days. There are alot of parasitic draws on our trucks and the Battery Management System will shut things down when the battery is low.

The most that my truck sits is one or two days and that is occasional weekends. I am going to the dealer to have my oil changed on Saturday. I will have them check it then. Interesting that there are no lights or indicators on warning to a low battery level.

There is no official "low/bad battery indicator" lamp of any kind. You have to pay attention to the clues such as what you are experiencing, ASS no longer coming on, or other changes etc.
