I had a Mercedes 300E and opening the sunroof was as routine as turning the ignition key. If it was offered on the Ranger, I'd add it for sure.
I never had problems with leaking but it was only a matter of time. They all leak. And no way would I ever add an aftermarket kit.

Firstly, if I had the option, I probably would've sprang for the moonroof. I actually like them but rarely use it for more than letting additional sunlight in or venting. Opening them up fully just creates buffeting that drives me nuts.

Secondly, what 99% of you are talking about, myself included, is actually a moonroof. Sunroofs are almost exclusively a thing of the past and were usually metal panels that in some cases didn't do more than pop up to vent...

You might try opening a back window a little bit. It has always worked for me.

I agree and love rear windows but it would be more useful if they had a power rear window, it's useless without it. When I had my regular cab F 150 I would use it all the time because I could turn around and reach it. Between my Ranger and Tacoma I've never opened either once in the past 5 years.

I agree that the back window needs to be pier, but opening a back door window will most likely work with the sunroof open. The noise level and wind go down significantly.

I hate spellcheck. I was trying to say power, not pier!

I just realized you were talking about the rear windows and I was thinking the rear sliding window. :headbang: You're right, I always have to crack the rear windows a few inches so you don't get that chugging sound.

The only thing I miss is being able to look up and make sure my kayak is still secured
I did the same thing for my Yakima SkyBox!

I do wish it was an a la carte option. Our 2015 Odyssey has never leaked, it's nice in MN (& close the shade if too hot).

I was disappointed that the sunroof was offered. My 2016 Tacoma that I traded in had one. I'm not a fan of aftermarket sunroofs, I've never seen an install that appears factory, they often leak, and a less than perfect install will probably decrease resale value.

I guess it would be nice as an option for those that wanted one. I found it odd myself one wasn't available. We have had them on all of our SUVs and my wife loves them and uses them all the time. We have never had any leaks or issues that are being described. So don't know what that is all about.

For me personally I don't like them. I don't like the sun beating down on my head! :) So I am happy with the Ranger as is but can agree, it should have been an option. What I really wanted is a power back glass.....where the entire thing goes down.

I've never had a sliding rear window in any truck I've owned. Not a fan of them at all.
I like power sliding windows, but the one in the Ranger is really useless. I was referring to a rear door window in the post. Opening one will help with the noise and the wind.
