+1 Covercraft. It's the first thing I buy for each of my new vehicle purchases. I also tint the windshield. The heat in southern Utah is brutal so anything I can do to knock down the temps in my truck is worth the money.

Every vehicle I have ever had has had Heat Shields in them. My Ranger does right now, fits perfectly, and keeps the heat out!

Has anyone purchased the full-vehicle kits from Weathertech (link) or Heatshield (link)?
Specifically for supercab, these are the only two suppliers I could find.
Long time ago I put a sunscreen up against the inside of the back window of my 2000 Ranger.
It was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Houston Texas for days and it literally "cooked" the window tint on the rear window.
Lots of nice little bubbles everywhere! (Dealer-professionally installed.)
I knew some neighbors that did not have tint because they drove at night a lot.
Then it should be ok to place the screens from the inside, on the sides or back window when parked.
Otherwise, my experience thinks it might get a cooked or baked from the inside!:sun:

Did the side of your sunshade that faced the rear window have the shiny foil silver surface?

Good catch! Yes! I forgot to mention that! So, if the sunscreen not foil covered, it probably would be ok. That foil reflects pretty good! Thanks, Robert

Robert,
My sunshade has the shiny foil on both sides and I have a 5" tint strip on my upper windshield (dealer tint). I live in a hot dry desert area and so far haven't had this issue with the tint. Do you think it might have been a defective batch of tint sheets or a lower quality grade of tint?

You know, I didn't think about that either! Shucks! I also would like to tint the top of my windshield. I had previously took a picture of the tint brand logo on the drivers side glass. I know I have one somewhere. I'm trying to locate it. I think it was a mid to lower grade tint from Sept. 2000. The day I picked up the truck it was 105!

I believe the tint was an option the dealer installed as part of the sale.

I looked for the pic and still have not located it. I might have deleted it after the sale. Gave the new owner all of the pics on a USB stick and kept some, but not that one pic!
I recall that the sunscreen was a $10 foil covered bubble type of sunscreen from Walmart. I had a few old ones placed against the supercab windows and they also bubbled up.
I bet the newer, higher quality types of solar film (Ceramic?) would hold up much better.

Thanks for the input. I will do some research and let you know what I find out.

I've been using this brand for years. By far one of the best auto sunshades out there. They do make a huge difference in the interior temps especially when it's 100F + outside.
I use them as well - great item - I got one for my Ranger within a couple weeks of driving off the lot and later for my 1995 Honda Wagon - won't use anyone else. Their custom measurements for specific vehicles are spot-on
