Interesting, that's a Global model same as ours, except for the steering being on the left of course. Shame she didn't get the i5 3.2 diesel instead of the 2.2 i4, the i5 is simply the 2.2 i4 slightly stroked and bored, and an extra cylinder thrown on.
Makes a huge difference to the performance and smoothness. Still the little 2.2's have been around for quite a few years and apart from the variable output oil pump (an issue shared with the i5) are pretty tough and reliable units, that were also used in Landrovers.
A manual too I see, probably an advantage in SA where the expertise and tooling to repair an Auto may not be commonplace. Any mechanic can fix a manual or replace a clutch.

Pretty much all the Rangers you seen in the smaller countries in the Asia Pacific are 2.2 manuals.
