I used Race Deck. Very good quality and I think it's the same flooring you see on Mecum Auctions. Good people to work with. They have several styles and colors and many price ranges and several patterns or you can design your own, like I did. It holds up really well, this floor is six years old and it is immune to chemicals, even brake fluid. I do have some tiles showing a little dullness where the vehicles are driven in with salty, sandy tires, but overall I am pleased. One thing I'd do differently is order something other than a diamond plate pattern. It's raised just like metal diamond plate making it a chore to roll a lift or tool box over. I got it originally because I thought it would offer better traction, but it really isn't necessary. I put two coats of concrete sealer on the bare floor before laying the 1 sq ft tiles. They snap together.
Your floor looks great.

I also used Race Deck. Very satisfied. Last winter I replaced all the bushinge on an atv on it. Pretty greasy job. Just wiped up the big chunks, spray some 409 on it and it wiped clean. Good as new. :)

They say to snap them together by stomping on them. I figured out quickly that my old bones were not up to the task. A rubber mallet did the job just fine.

Entering week 5 of my 4-6 quote of garage install. No pre-call yet to schedule. Last they said slight delay due to a week of rain we had here a little while back.

So.... I started my wife's deck project out back. I'll share some pictures in a bit.

Lumber prices are dropping but good grief. $900 spent would have been $450 spent two years ago...

So since my garage isn't being built yet I started on my wife's request for a deck out back. I'm about 75% done.

Ok so a few caveats;

1. I am not a carpenter. I know just enough where it won't fall down even under severe weather conditions and weight. If you are expecting professional level attention to detail look elsewhere. lol

2. I need to reposition the two middle cross rails. I made the amateur mistake of putting them in on level, instead of using distance between the deck boards and top rail. aka if everything is not 100% level and square, then you install something level and square, they will appear crooked and uneven side to side. Easy fix, I'll get back to it later this week.

3. Pardon the redneck'd gazebo setup. It is friggin' absurdly humid and hot here and it was the only retreat for cooling off. In the coming months I will be building a wooden framed awning with metal roofing.

4. I have a bunch of fit and finish things I do want to go back and do, but again, while I may have stayed at a Holiday Inn once, I'm not pro. (aka why someone else is installing my garage).

5. The middle portion is supported directly on a 8x8 concrete pad. Off to the right I used concrete deck blocks cause I didn't feel like screwing with post hole diggers and mixing concrete. The left side was a shallow enough so I just used some 12x12 concrete pavers and composite shims to even out the base for the post to rest on. Only nails used were the various samson brackets and joist hangers, everything else was deckmate screws.

In progress pics, ignore how out of wack some of the framing boards look. They were shimmed into level at some point.

How I get my 13' tall RV in the shop is a secrete....

Best,

Good to hear from you Phil.

I am going to guess that the secret is Very carefully. I bet a spotter would also be helpful. :)

Hi Gregg,

Acctually 60 ft away is another garage door which is 14' tall..... :) Above the shop is a mezzanine for storage as these houses have little storage and I have 20'x20' of storage. Did not need a 18' ceiling in the shop..... A very useful space which is why the fold up ladder is in the picture....

best,
Phil

Well I got some more work done on the deck and clearly I have more fine tuning to do thanks to my amateur status. Somehow I managed a rather large unsquare dip in height on the right side I need to correct as you can see in the cross rail slats having different heights on one end vs the other. Good news is, I know how to fix it. LOL I'm not expecting the world at my skill level, but that goof up can't stand.

I got my human gate added and I am still working on fleshing out the doggie door (it will eventually have a ramp added and the doorway arc'd soon as I find some time to use the jigsaw I bought the other day.

Still lots of excess wood to sawsaw off and then some woody putty action, sanding, and re-sealing.

Doesn't look to bad from the inside of the deck.
