I can't stand anyone working on my stuff. I have found as long as you keep receipts and a log of maintenance you should be fine. I always keep a log book and write down everything even the type/amount of gas when I fill up. Might be overkill but it can come in handy. I guess it depends on the dealer. Mine is OK with it as long as I keep proof and I use OEM quality or better products.

That’s bullcrap. If you never change your oil then sure they could use that to say you were negligent. But they cannot force you to service your vehicle with them or anywhere to maintain a factory warranty. They are slime balls and you need to steer clear of them anyway.

Ya if something happens where it would void the warranty I'd take it in but I wouldn't be happy about it. As a mechanic myself I have seen the way some of my peers have treated other people's things and that makes me very skeptical. There are good mechanics out there though.

I have to say that my local dealer, "Hellman Ford" has been great to deal with. They know me personally and I've got good deals from them. The service department is great to work with, also. I've bought 5 different Fords from them over the years and never have had buyers remorse.

I am also lucky to have a wonderful dealer. They are totally ok with me doing my own maintenance as long as I keep a record.

Sounds like some Ford dealers need to review the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

I’ve had similar issues at my also in Texas ford dealer. Here in Austin, I took my wife’s Explorer in for a weird squeak coming at idle, and it sat for 17 days. They kept telling me oh we’re working on it, they’re talking to Ford to figure it out, meanwhile I could see from both the Ford Pass app as well as the fact that I drive by the dealership every day for work that it hadn’t been started or moved from the spot I parked it in two weeks prior.

And even when my ranger needed some recall work they told me it’d be 3 months before they could get to it, they’d prefer I took it somewhere else.

I asked my somewhere else dealer what the deal was and he told me two things - 1) that dealer doesn’t require an appointment they take anyone that comes down their drive and do not prioritize appointments and 2) (this map be unique to Austin) we simply don’t have enough Ford dealers to deal with our population growth and the amount of Ford trucks sold in Texas.
I’m in Austin, which dealership is this that I need to avoid? I bought my truck in Iowa, no local experiences yet.

@viperwolf is not in the US. He's in the Phillipines.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a US law. It does not apply on the Phillipines.

There may be a similar statute in the Phillipines, but we don't know that.
