I foresee a lot of garages being converted into Faraday cages....I bet that would be fun to watch for those who park inside a garage.
If we all did what the government wants we would have EVs and no cats to be stolenAnything developed by humans can be compromised by humans.
Hack into it and self drive it to a chop shop to rip out the cat.
Then they'll figure out a way to steal the neodymium (rare earth)magnets out of the motors. There's probably a way to "siphon" a charge off a parked BEV into another one. Over the air Forscan to lock the APIM on an all-polka stream at 30 volume with a shut-off override. If we all did what the government wants we would have EVs and no cats to be stolen
Hi Dave,That's just crazy! Why would Ford, the only company (so far) file a patent for this? If this was to ever get installed no way I'd eve buy another one. This gives them total control over your vehicle.
give it time.If we all did what the government wants we would have EVs and no cats to be stolen
basically any dealer that is berkshire hathaway does that as well. pretty sad.Hi Dave,
Our local Ford dealer installs a system on the vehicle which is alleged to only be a security system but if you use their finance and miss a payment they can disable the vehicle where ever it is.
I will not buy vehicles from them...
Best,
Phil
EVs will need cats and emissions tests!give it time.
if we were so luckyEVs will need cats and emissions tests!
If it’s as good as Sync and the Pass App we don't have anything to worry about
“We don’t have any plans to deploy this,” said Ford spokesperson Wes Sherwood. “We submit patents on new inventions as a normal course of business but they aren’t necessarily an indication of new business or product plans.”
This particular Ford patent raised more than a few eyebrows for a number of reasons, though its intentions are to make the actual act of repossession a bit safer for those involved. To avoid confrontation, the system outlined in the patent would be able to communicate with financial institutions such as banks that hand out vehicle loans, repossession agencies, and even the police or medical personnel. In the event that someone doesn’t make their payments on a vehicle loan, these entities would be able to communicate with each other, the vehicle, and the owner.
They have that now. They simply don't use it... yet! This gives them total control over your vehicle.
I kinda suspected that. There are people all over You Tube and social media losing their minds over this, saying that the evil corporate overlords will steal your car if you fail to make payments. It looks like Ford nixed the plans to go through with this.
