Just installed a trailer hitch receiver and found this handy bracket that attaches hitch lights to said hitch. I think it looks pretty clean with minimal overhang.

I have a tremor with easy access fuse panel in the engine bay that already has aux switches inside.

What would be the best way to run wire from these lights to the engine bay panel so I can control via switch?

im assuming down the drivers side since both connections are on that side. But which route?

Adding picture because why not.

Well you can tap into the current backup light circuit in the 7 pin plug if you have one. Then its automatically on. But you have upfitter switches and they must be used.

I would find an existing wiring loom and run your positive wire along it. Should keep it clean and out of the way.

Something like this might work https://www.nhoverland.com/products/ram-7-pin-reverse-light-harness

Was this a universal bracket you installed?
Following to see how you end up wiring it in.

Depending on amperage, you could tap the backup lights, possibly?

I tapped mine for a backup alarm but I have an XL with halogen bulbs, not sure if you can tap the LED wire without coausing issues.

Of course, this means the lights only come on in reverse.

A switch would be nice for general use.

Like someone else asks, what's the mounting point you used?
I want to do the same but was looking at two commonly used holes that are farther under and wider apart.

But I like the way yours looks! =)

Some quick notes-

Some links to the stuff I bought and how i got here. I’ll post some close ups soon.

Curt class 3 hitch receiver-
https://a.co/d/3s4wTPd
This sits a little lower from the bumper than the Oem one. I was OK with this since it was on sale for just over $100.

Nilight bracket-
https://a.co/d/4vEpK4Q
Sits around the receiver perfect, but now you have to figure out which way to place it to align the holes for the lights to allow for tightest to body fit. I wanted the lights up. Meaning tucked just below bumper.

Nilight rectangle pods-
https://a.co/d/6n8Yoz7
Just using visual reference i found these. They were the closest to the measurements I needed to tuck in. And cheap to try!
they work, but the lights face slightly out.

Nilight wiring-
https://a.co/d/0nQpJN
Found a nice thick one. 12awg. To run back to the front since I have the switches. Going to put both pods on one wire. And probably use switch 6 since it’s the last one= back?

all in all I think it looks clean.
Too cold to play with wiring outside and going to snow. So this may have to wait till
It warms up.

Adding pics.
Also added an anti rattle rubber gasket around the hitch insert for rattle and to clean up the gap around the light bracket.

let me know if you guys want more views.
