It FINALLY quit raining here so I knocked out the leveling kit this morning. TOTAL time was right at 3 hours. Understand I had NEVER done one and was OVERLY cautious. The instructions are pretty straight forward. First off raise and level the front of the truck.. don't try to raise just one side at a time cause you will have a stress load on the swaybar.
Pull the tires/wheels, then getting the front skid plates off so you can unplug the 3 electrical connections on the power assist steering. Pretty simple so far.
You have to unbolt the brake sensor and bracket (8mm) and the brake line bracket (10mm).
Next you unbolt the sway bar from the knuckle at the top (18mm). Following that the tie rod end (15mm) and then loosen the top upper control arm (18mm).
You will need to support the bottom of the knuckle so it doesn't lay out too far and pull the axle shaft out of the diff... GUESS WHAT I DID... yeah I'm a dumbass..
Remove the 2 nuts from the bottom of the strut(18mm) and remove the 3 15mm nuts at the top. I had a little difficulty removing the strut til I figured out I needed to lower the jack supporting the bottom some more.
Once you have the strut out you cam assemble the blocks to the top of the strut (mine had too much powder coating on them and I had to round file it out of the holes)
Next step is to remove the bottom bolts on the strut.. They tell you to hit with a hammer.. those bitches are TIGHT. I ended up using a press.
After that you re install the top of the strut (you have to rotate it about 33 degrees for the bolts to line up and re attach with the provided hardware.
Pop the bottom in and then reinstall the studs you pressed out.
Button everything up and double check all nuts and bolts and reinstall tires. I gained slight over the 2.5 I
advertised inches. It sit level now..
For never having done it I'd say the difficulty level is a 5 out of 10. Normal hand tools a jack and some stands.
Taking it for an alignment check tomorrow.
Pics are NOT in order!
